Hi

Can I get into any the following schools?

University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
Purdue University
Georgia Tech
Carnegie Mellon
Penn State

Harvard (another dream school, no expectations of acceptance)
Cornell (third dream school)

please please help me out, I'm very confused as to whether this is a good list, also please advice on which schools should be safe schools, and which ones should be targets or reaches

THANKS!

Hey there Karn

GPA is fit for
Purdue University
Georgia Tech
Carnegie Mellon
Penn State
McGill
UBC
University of Texas - Austin
University of Illinois

But you need a 3.7 to attempt at your reaches (Harvard, Columbia etc.)
This also depends on your subject selection however, you mentioned you take IB which is the toughest possible curriculum.

UMich is a possibility, I’d say around a Match-Reach level, not too sure

Extracurriculars seem very good, better to have 400 hours and a 3.55 than a 4.0 and no hours eh? :)

You’ll go places

thecrimson: thanks so much for your advice and input  really helped me

Purdue and Penn State are good matches…get a good IB predicted…improve SAT I…and get good SAT II scores so you can improve chances in the others…good luck and don’t forget to apply to the ivies…dreams do come true :)
