Chances for Engineering with Low GPA?

<p>Hi,</p>

<p>High school junior here, and UIUC is my dream school and I was wondering how much of I shot I have. My EC is pretty weak, and my GPA is pretty low, but I'm doing really well this semester and plan on doing even better next semester to raise it up.</p>

<p>My GPA is: 3.679 UW, 3.821 W (I am taking a bunch of AP courses this year so my weighted should go up significantly if I can finish this semester strong)</p>

<p>My ACT scores are: 33 composite, 36 reading, 27 math, 35 english, 33 science (I plan to take it again and improve my math score)</p>

<p>I plan to finish around 9 AP courses by the time I graduate</p>

<p>My EC are:
-member of church praise team for 3 years
- Mu Alpha Theta 1 year (2 by graduation)
-lots of community service in downtown with church
-volunteered at local Tae Kwon Do tournament for 2 years
-helped at various church events
-part of high school's UNICEF club 1 year
-Orchestra 3 years (4 by graduation)</p>

<p>I'm also Asian if that makes any difference.</p>

<p>Does your HS rank? Where are you in your class rankings? Your ACT Composite makes you competitive on the standardized score component. If your school doesn’t rank, your HS record will be compared to others from your school who have applied/attended so they can get a feel for where your GPA/Course Rigor lands you in the mix. It’s all about competition for a limited number of available seats.</p>
