Chances for engineering?

I’m from PA so OOS. My school doesn’t rank.
Extracurriculars are excellent, a lot of clubs and volunteering.
Essays are good.
ACT: 34 Composite, 33 Math, 34 English, 32 Reading, 35 Science
32 Composite, 34 Math, 32 English, 29 Reading, 34 Science
Mostly AP classes or honor classes. Each science and math was either an AP or honor class.

GPA: This is where my application kind of falls apart, I probably have a 3.45 UW from Freshman to Junior year but I did have an upward curve as in it got better each year. This is really the only part of my application that I’m worried about, is my GPA gonna break it?

No, I would say you are in. Very small chance you get ‘Exploration’, in the end all that means is you schedule later, until you declare a major.

@hornet75‌ thanks for responding!! I actually got in yesterday, I was put in the Science and Technology Exploration, can you tell me a little about that? From what I’ve looked up it seems like I can still apply to engineering majors after freshman year, what’s the difference between that and pre engineering?

The only difference is you are more likely to get waitlisted for big classes like ENGR 1181 or CSE 2221 that a lot of people take as pre-requisites for their major, or so they say. In reality, I know two people who are in exploration and they have not hit any roadbumps, and should declare the major they want along with the rest of their peers. The advisors for exploration are really competent and will make sure you are set.

@hornet75‌ thank you!!
