Chances for Exeter, NMH, Andover

For some background, I’m currently in 8th grade applying for 9th, I’m white, Female, and I live in a rural town in the midwest. No one around where I live goes or even really knows about boarding school so idk if my location would help me at all. I don’t have a lot of activities and advanced classes simply because my school is so small that it doesn’t offer many.
EC (some of these are midwestern things that I’m sure are offered everywhere)
-Speech and discussion for two years (This is my best EC)
-Volleyball (I kind of sucked though tbh)
-Track and Field (I do discuss and shot put, and I’m pretty average)
-One Act (We almost got to state last year and I’m pretty sure we’re going to this year)
-Musical
-Knowledge Bowl
-Alto and Bari sax (This is my fourth year, I’m alright but I’m not amazing)

For grades, I get all As but my classes are really easy (once again not out of choice) so I don’t have any impressive classes. The reason I’m applying to boarding school in the first place is because my school is way too easy and I have no opportunities,

I forgot to mention my ssat was an 84 which isn’t that great but I have great recommendations and decent essays.

Your score is going to hurt your chances but, if your essays and recommendations are as great as you say they are, you have a fighting chance, and a strong one at that.

Why those three schools in particular?

NMH because of the college model academic program, Exeter because of Harkness and rigor, and Andover because of the rigor. I would need quite a bit of FA so I have to apply to pretty affluent schools that can offer that.

When my daughter applied to boarding school, the most generous FA did not come from the schools with the largest endowments.

What makes you think other boarding schools aren’t as rigorous? Or that only Exeter offers Harkness?

Most applicants who need FA apply to more than three schools.

Wishing you the best of luck!

You should retake the SSAT. I know Andover accepts the February one
