Chances for Falling Senior

I'm a middle-class, first-generation college, Asian female in a very competitive public high school in San Francisco. I had a not so great 2nd semester of junior year, so I'm here for an honest opinion on my chances. I'm planning to major in Chemistry, History, or Pharmacy. Here are my stats (yeah, not very impressive):

AP Psych: A/A

Any other college suggestions? Do you think I have a chance of getting into any of the BA/MD programs in the nation? Should I try to justify my low last semester with some lame excuse (like ruptured left eardrum rendered me deaf in that ear for a month)?

Thanks.

I decided not to give you chances for the following reasons:
(1) Asking for chances at 24 colleges at a time is a bit much (you listed 15 regular colleges and the UCs--of which there are nine)
(2) Making excuses for your poor grades in two of your classes by blaming your professors is unprofessional and unreasonable. If you did better in your classes, you wouldn't need to make these excuses; and
(3) Asking us to justify you lying on your application (ruptured left eardrum) is unethical, and is neither going to help you in your efforts to do better in your studies, nor to get into the colleges you are choosing.

I would love to help you, OP but as Calcruzer said 24 is a lot of schools.

Oh yeah, I just graduated from that hellhole Lowell and got into Cal with much crappier grades (3.67 UW), so you should be in all the UCs unless you do something stupid like LIE ON YOUR ESSAYS. You don't need to do it

Yeah, you have Lowell Syndrome where you NEED to get the highest grades possible. Yeah well you're doing a hella of a lot better gradewise than people that got into Cal Engineering from our poor rat hole of a school. I mean come on we sent 50 people to Cal in the Class of '06, I think '07 ain't gonna be that bad. Yeah, in at USC also, unless you LIE or CHEAT!

Though I never ever liked Shield & Scroll or CSF...those hypocrits. Man, I hate those beanies and stupid yellow sashes.

Man, this reminds me why I hated my high school, Lowell, so many people there are like the OP, a bunch of psycho perfectionists.

staidanflakes:

UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach
UCSD: Match
UCI/UCSB/UCD: Safe Match
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Safety

Yeah, Lowell is pretty much a hellhole, and yes I know I asked for my chances at a lot of schools. I just want to see if my chances at any of these schools are feasible (no need to assess my chances for that whole list especially the UC's.)

Yeah, no need to exaggerate anything on my application (except that whole eardrum thing is true though not a very good excuse)

Damnit! I'm not a liar or a cheater! Sorry...I'm just feeling kind of sh*** now.

Chill my fellow asian.

Berkeley/UCLA - match

Those SATs are ok and the grades are alright even with the C (well maybe not). I seriously don't agree with Calcruzer. There is a lot of politics with teachers nowadays. I swear you have to literally suck them for your papers to be graded fairly ( a bit of an exaggeration, but just a bit). Half the time, the reason they gave you a B is because they "felt" like you are B student, but are unable to give specific reasons.

Also don't bother with that "ruptured eardrum" on your App. I seriously considered just going out this summer and getting into some knife fights outside a police station, hotboxing in front of the principal, or something so I could explain my lack of extracurriculars. I'll say I hung around the wrong people and did drugs my entire high school career and start doing a ton of extracurriculars to prove that I am "reformed". In the end, however, I decided that is stupid since I might have to go to jail, but above all I compromised my integrity.

UMass, Nova, Marquette, Seton Hall, UOP, and Loyola are all safeties for you

BU- safe match
BC- match
Wake- match
ND- match/extremely slight reach
Gtown-slight reach
Washu-slight reach
Northwestern-slight reach
Duke- reach
