Chances for Finalized List of Schools

@cbow17 Statistically, early action admission rate tends to be higher than regular decision. However, the idea that applying early will boost your app is false.

Just because the admit rate is higher, doesn’t mean there’s a cause/effect relationship. The kinds of students who are prudent enough to apply Early Action are the same kinds of students who have better ACT scores and stats, and will get in more often anyway.

This is similar to the married man paradox. Getting married doesn’t make you live longer if you’re a man. Rich, healthy men are far more likely to attract a woman than less healthy, poor men.

Though there are schools that clearly define demonstrated interest as a factor for admission. Early Action applicants will likely get some boost.

@fallenchemist Thank you for shedding some light about Tulane, it is much appreciated.

Remember if you apply ED somewhere you are shutting doors at all your other schools should you get in. That also means you don’t get to see if you earn multiple merit offers and you also don’t have the flexibility to revisit those acceptances to truly make a choice among several schools.
