Chances for Fordham, NYU, Boston U, etc.

So with nothing but future college plans surrounding me, I am extremely nervous of getting into my top schools for communications/media studies 1) Fordham 2) NYU 3) Boston U 4) Emerson College 5) Syracuse U

I am an honors student with a 3.7 unweighted GPA (i dont know what my weighted is) and i am ranked 21 out of 255. Im very discouraged because of my low SAT scores (Math 540, Reading 530, Writing 600). Are SATs everything??? I have always taken nothing but honors and AP classes. What are my chances at getting into the above schools.

With your scores its a reach to get into any of the communications schools at any of the universities you listed. That being said, if you aren’t in need of FA, your chances at the 3 privates are a little better. One suggestion would be to apply to BU to the College of General Studies, and after a year you can choose communications as your major and start take the into to comm class for the comm major, becoming a declared communications major as a junior. My D is a sophomore in the comm school at BU and is having the most amazing experience.

That letter of recommendation may help at Fordham - I’m not as familiar with it as with the other 3 schools. Good luck to you.

honestly I say you gotta pretty good chance of getting into all of them you have good extra curr. and good courese taken. though NYU is pretty hard to get into.

Hey! So I think you have a great shot at Fordham (nice extracurriculars!), decent for Syracuse, while Emerson, Boston, and NYU might be a reach unless you retake the SATs (or give the ACT a shot!). Because you are really a great candidate in everything else- the scores are the only thing that would hinder you. Check and see if any of these places are SAT/ACT optional, because choosing not to send them would probably raise your chances. Good luck!

Totally forgot lol:
