Hello, I'm currently a junior right now enrolled in the Medical Sciences Academy.

GPA: UW: 3.26
W: 3.76

SAT: 1640
ACT: Not taken yet

EC: French Club, National French Honor Society, Model UN, HOSA (Health Occupancy Students of America), and I've done HOSA competition for Biotechnology. I passed the test that allowed me to move onto regionals, but, unfortunately, did not make it into states :(
Community Service: 150 hours. Received through: Volunteering at my Physician's office, a residence for the elderly, and I helped run my school's Summer camp for the incoming freshmen into the Medical Academy ( I helped with the biology lab portion)

As a junior, I definitely plan on improving my GPA, my SAT, and achieving a good ACT score. I am very interested in going to a college in Florida, as I am a residence and can't afford to go out of state. My dream school is UCF!! I love their campus and the overall environment seems really nice and chill. But, if I do get accepted into UF or FSU, I'll definitely take those schools into consideration. I don't really know what I want to major in, but I am very interested in science, economics, and business. I'm really worried that i'm on the edge of being accepted into any of these schools :/ Thanks for any help/advice you can give me!

I am currently a Florida high school senior. I have a 4.48 weighted GPA and 3.6 unweighted. I am in the top 9% of my class(825). I am in a rigorous academic magnet, and have a lot of extracurriculars and community service hours. I don’t test very well I only have a 570 on reading and a 550 on math,1630 total SAT, and 23 ACT. I also take 5 AP courses this year. I just want to know what my chances are especially because I’ve been told that I made the mistake of applying for reg. decision. please help!

Average SAT Score
1248 (critical reading and math)
1837 (critical reading, math and writing)

Average ACT Score
27

Average High School GPA
3.8 (weighted)

You need to work on improving your SAT score, your GPA is fine, though getting it a bit higher would help.

From the latest UCF Command Data set:

25th percentile 75th percentile Average Score
SAT Critical Reading 540 630 585
SAT Math 550 640 595
SAT Writing 510 610 560

If you can score over the 25th percentile (540 reading, 550 math, and 510 writing), you have a solid shot at UCF. Get over the 75th percentile, and you have a shot at merit scholarships.

FSU is a bit more challenging than UCF for admissions. However, if you can improve your SAT (and your GPA a bit), you have a shot.

UPDATE: My GPA is now at 3.26 UW and 3.83W, I got a 25 on my ACT, and i did not bother sending in my SAT scores. I got accepted into UCF the week I applied (Fall). You guys have to remember, the stats that you see online for the University average accepted rate is INSANELY inflated. Everyone applies to those schools, even the kids going to ivies or a better school than the one your checking out. Therefore, it is an inaccurate way of seeing whether or not you have a good enough chance of being admitted. What the colleges should do, however, is upload the stats of the accepted AND admitted students. Oh, and I applied to FSU and UF! I’ll keep y’all updated.

My son applied to UF and FSU he is a senior from NY. His UW average is a 3.7 hard course load, never had lower then an 85 back in 9th (Spanish was 85) He had a 89 final ave in 9th, 92 in 10th and 96 in 11th. He is treasurer of 2 clubs, FBLA, national honor society, student gov’t and other extra curr outside of school. He has a 26 ACT superscored 27. He is retaking this sat 10/25 to try and improve. He had great essays, IMO, lol…what do you think of his chances? Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone who is applying

@flordiafan96 I wish I could help chance you…but from everything I have read I think you have a great shot at FSU the other two are higher reaches but they are fickle and you never know!!! Good luck to you!!!
