Chances for FSU/UF

Hi everybody,

My family isn't sure if I have what it takes to get into FSU or UF. I already know the freshman profile for each, but I just wanted to know my chances.

Weighted GPA: 3.897 (not including this years final grades; all A's (2 AP, 4 honors, 3 reg)
ACT: 27 composite, 28 super scored; FSU uses ACT super score, UF does not
SAT: 1770 composite, 1780 super scored
Extra curricular: Interning at a design group that makes design/film material for well-known companies and events, Interact club, Student activities, Varsity softball, women's cycling team, volunteering

My first two years of high school were rough because of my parents divorce; I moved a few times, and I missed A LOT of school. 100 days in 9th and 10th grade to be exact. Since I moved so many times and missed so much school, I did not have the opportunity to stay involved with something all four years (I'm at my 3rd high school now). I did make JV softball my freshman year, but moved shortly after.

Even though I had a rough first two years, this past year (junior year) I didn't miss a single day of school, got involved in different school activities, and have excelled in all of my AP, Honors, and regular classes.

This coming year, I plan on taking AP calculus, AP environmental, AP macroeconomics, Student Activities, DE English, DE government, French 2, Honors Anatomy and 1 communications technology class.

I also plan on re-taking both the SAT and the ACT one more time each to hopefully reach 1850-1950 SAT and 28-30 ACT.

If I can make a stellar application that really portrays how I went from being the girl who never did anything to the girl who made a name for herself in just 1 year in a completely different environment, then I feel that I have a good shot.

What do you think? Any tips, advice?

Thank you for reading. :)

(Edit) P.S.- Just to clarify; I'm not an actual supersenior, I just like the name.

HI

FSU = Match/High Match
UF = High Match

You should apply to both schools and keep up your EC’s in your senior year. UF uses holistic admissions, and kids with worse stats get accepted. Try to work on your essay over the summer (it matters at UF), and study some for that SAT/ACT. On the UF app, there is a section for you to add “any additional information”, which would be a good spot for you to explain your 9th-10th grade challenges.

Good Luck!

PS: Don’t forget to apply to a few safeties! The other state universities may even offer you merit scholarships, always nice! They are also on rolling admissions, so schools like UCF, USF, UNF, etc., would offer you admissions (and maybe a scholarship), by the end of November. Having a few acceptances in hand, makes waiting on FSU and UF(2nd Friday in February) to announce acceptances easier.
