@greenplant -
I’d suggest calculating your GPA the same way FSU does to give you the best information.
I am pretty sure you use a bonus of 1 point for AP/IB/DE, and .5 Point for each Honor/Gifted type class. You also only count core classes, so gym would be excluded.
That being said, look at the Common Data Set info of enrolled students for FSU. for 2018: http://www.ir.fsu.edu/commondataset.aspx
You will see an SAT range of 1190 (25%) to 1330 (75%). So…you are solid for SAT. If you bring it up even further it can only help!
My gut tells me you will be in the mix, but not a sure thing. Put some effort into your essays and really detail out your ECs.
I left off the most important thing – good luck!
@greenplant - I’m also applying, so maybe we will both get in!
Sorry for the late response, but thank you for commenting! Hopefully my 1450 SAT will compensate for my lack of ECs. Good luck to both of us ^^
Chance My Daughter Thanks
GPA: 4.0uw/5.26w
SAT: 1410
ACT: 33
NHS, SNHS, Interact, volunteer work, Band, theatre, TX state qualifier in Science
2 AP Courses (We live in rural TX school only offers 2 AP classes)
She wants to major in Environmental Engineering
I know I am missing some things, but this is the core stuff. Be brutally honest.
@BigHerms - I’d say very strong chance of accept with OOS tuition waiver. Good luck to your daughter!
My daughter just applied with the stats listed above. I know it’s late. She has been accepted into Texas Tech and University of South Carolina. She did EA at Miami. She didn’t apply to FSU early because she was told they don’t give scholarships. Please be honest, do you believe it is too late? Thank you
@BigHerms - I doubt they will hold the 2 days against her at FSU. Although no one here really knows.
With a 4.0 unweighted and a 33, she will def qualify for the OOS tuition waiver. And prob another small scholarship - think it’s $2400.
@Scholar2023 thanks. We hope that is true. When we started this journey FSU was always a top 3 school for her. But we were misled on a few things. Wish we would of went with our gut and applied when it opened. Again thank you for the input.
Was accepted for fall 2019. Posted this mainly to provide hope for those without ECs and/or relatively low GPAs. Also, I actually applied as an out of state applicant and am only considered as an in state student for tuition purposes
