I NEED a full-ride to go to college. But since I am an International Student, the whole process has become a full blown nightmare.

My Stats:

-GPA: 3.0/4.0 UW
-A Levels: Mathematics, Economics, and Further Mathematics (Received an A, B, and C respectively)
-SAT: CR 700, M 700, W 750 (2150)
-SAT II: Math L2 790, Physics 700
-TOEFL: 112/120

-My ECs are average, but it's worth mentioning that none of them are school related/affiliated.
-Essay and LoRs are also average.

Others:

I graduated from HS 2 years ago, but did not enroll in any college. I grew up in an abusive household, and have been supporting myself for the last couple of years. So parental contribution is ZERO. I have so far procured enough money to send apps, and an economy class air-ticket. Therefore FinAid is an absolute necessity.
Just FYI, I'm not going to put any of that in my essay to play the sympathy card. Period.

Given the above, please help me find 10 Universities that have a GOOD chance of offering full-tuition scholarships.

Hi!
I’m also an international needing full ride. There are some colleges that give FA to internationals, but you cannot predict which one will actually accept you and offer a package covering the full cost of attendance.

What is your sex? I think women colleges like Mount Holyoke can be a bit easier to get into.
Anyway you cannot know in advance if you’ll get admitted at any particular prestigious college. Sometimes admission decisions seem pretty random.

Anyhoo, my 5 cents will be to try LACs depending on what you wanna do, with ur C in further math and less than spectacular Ecs I doubt u have much option for the big unis that give full aid. Another thing is that, most schools are not need blind, so they will looking at ur finances while deciding.
On a different note, how do u have a GPA? In the British A level system, u don’t get a GPA.
Also wht do u want to major in? Coz most LACs don’t have engineering…

prostozina:
I didn’t even know there were all-female colleges. I was lured by the FinAid packages and almost sent an app to Bryn Mawr before realizing that it was strictly for women. I am - unfortunately - a guy. Also, I know that admission to ANY college is by no means guaranteed. That is why I am sending ~10 apps to “sure things” hoping at least one will stick.

Thanks for the link. BTW, do you think those stats also apply to Internationals?

HaHeHo:
I am going to major in Economics. The GPA is not from my A-Levels. It’s from my High School transcript, which only has my school exams i.e. every unit from my A-Levels minus the stress of an Edexcel administration.

About the need blind thing… My father’s income is less than $10,000/year, but he owns property which comes out to a valuation of $300,000. But, as stated earlier, he isn’t exactly “Father of the Year”, so ZERO parental contribution.

You need to check with every college if it offers any aid, whether merit-based or need-based to internationals. I know Troy does and another university from the list does (I was accepted there, but the deadline, unfortunately, already passed.)
