Chances for Georgetown and Boston College?

Hello! I’m a second semester junior in high school, and am wondering if I have a decent shot for Gtown and BC. Of course, it’s always been my dream to go to an Harvard or Yale, but alas, I don’t know how realistic that is.

I’m well aware that there are no guarantees and there is no secret formula. I just want to get advice from an unbiased source.

By the end of this semester, I will have a 4.02 GPA. By the end of first semester senior year (if things go as planned…) that should be somewhere around 4.07-4.1.

I have taken a lot of AP and Honors classes throughout my high school career, and my schedule next year includes three APs and 3 Honors classes.

My extracurriculars (all of which I plan to continue into my senior year):

  • 3 years of symphony orchestra (I’ll be first chair flute next year)
  • 2 years of chamber orchestra (sectional leader, 1st chair)
  • 3 years of Model UN
  • 3 years of Ambassador Club (I volunteer in my school’s admissions office – host students, give tours, etc.)
  • 2 years of being an assistant Sunday School Teacher

I took the ACT in February and got a 31 (27 in science, 28 in math, 34 in reading, 36 in English). I plan to take it again in July and hopefully get a 33. Obviously, math and science are really holding me back, and if I seriously improve, I think a 32-33 is doable.

I’m taking three subject tests – math level 2, literature, and Spanish (or maybe U.S. History…). Hopefully, I’ll get 720+ on those.

For reference, I’m a female from Chicago. I plan on studying political science with a minor in history. I’m a practicing Roman Catholic. I currently attend a private prep school in Chicago (Catholic Jesuit, of course). Also, my school has an unprecedented history of sending students to both Georgetown, BC, and Fordham. Over of the half the class apply to BC,
and according to my counsellor, my school is one of the largest feeders to Georgetown in the U.S.

I’d appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
