Hi guys! I'm 17 and applying to these schools in the fall. These are my top choices and I have a lot of backups in Texas where I live, but I want a general idea of if i have a chance at one of these schools.

I'm ranked in the top 7% of a really competitive school in Texas.

Taken the SAT one time. 800 reading, 700 math and 700 writing.

I'm an International Baccalaureate student and I've taken the maximum amount of AP's and IB's that I can each year. My final cumulative GPA at the end of junior year is a 4.1

I'm President of the Speech and Debate team and I compete every weekend, placing within the top three locally every weekend and I always advance at big national tournaments like at Harvard.

I'm also President of the Amnesty International Club at my school, which does service projects and runs fundraisers to help alleviate human rights issues.

Well I don’t know if this is helpful, but it really isn’t too hard to get into Vanderbilt if you’re a person of color. Something like 75% of the population there is white, and I have a friend whose uncle is on the board of admissions and he said that if you’re not white, you can basically get in. Thus, I conclude my unhelpful comment.

^^ not true your class rank isn’t really in the reach for a school like Vanderbilt. Most of the students that applied were in the top 1% of their class. Work hard, have good essays, good ECs, and you could have a chance. But being a person of color does help but not drastically

You definitely have a chance at all of the schools you have listed. You demonstrate leadership, initiative, and astuteness. What do you plan on majoring in?

I’m probably going to major in Economics. I’m of South Asian descent, and the fact that we’re an over-represented minority doesn’t help my chances I don’t think.
