Chances for Georgetown?

GPA: 4.0 UW, 5.022 W

SAT: 2070 (710 math, 730 cr, 630 writing) first time i took it and with little preparation
ACT: 31 (28 English, 10 on essay, 34 math, 33 reading, 27 science) first time taken, again w/o much of any prep.

rank: 9/351 and going up

ECs: Mu Alpha Theta (10, 11, planning on doing it 12th ), Academic Team (9,10, 11, definitely continuing in 12th, probably captain 12th grade, and we have won the county competition the two years i've been on the team.), Red Cross (10 and became VP, will continue until 12), cofounder of Chess Club, FIRST Robotics (10, 11, planning on 12th, was Safety Captain 10th, 8th place of 52 teams at competition this year), Science Club (10, 11, probably 12th), National Honor Society (11,12)

from sophomore year: AP Human Geo-5, AP Enviro. Sci.-5

11th grade schedule: anatomy, ap bio, ap english, apush, ap stats, precalculus, and chem II

I think you’ve got as good of a shot as anyone else applying. Try to retake the SAT/ACT again. I wouldn’t worry too much about rank, as you seem to have got that covered. Good luck!

Chance Back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1562435-chance-me-usc-annenberg-communications.html</a></p>

+1 on retaking SAT/ACT. A little prep, combined with knowing the routine and the types of questions, should get you better scores on the second outing.

Your scores are reasonably competitive already, but it can only help to be more competitive.

Also, are you taking no foreign language in HS? G’town gives particular weight to languages - especially so if you are applying in SFS or SLL (School of Foreign Service / School of Language and Linguistics), but it’s a very international campus so even for CAS language study will likely help you.

Good luck, and if you do become a Hoya, celebrate your success with a decadent Burger Madness at Wisemiller’s Deli! Oh, how I miss them.

Yeah, I took 3 years of French (8th,9th, and 10th grade), and thanks for the input.

Georgetown: Match

Georgetown: high match
you should probably retake the ACT/SAT though

What would my chances for UVA and NYU Stern be, assuming I improve my SAT/ACT on the second time w/studying?

bump…

Georgetown: Reach (high match if you chose to major in a STEM subject)
UVA: Match
NYU: Match/High match

so if i applied to the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown, would i have fair chances of making it in?

bump…

mcdonough would be a bit of a reach but i think you have a good shot of getting in. if you bring up act/sat a little you are in for sure. good luck!

Georgetown McDonough: Reach

Georgetown only looks at CR and math, right?

if applyig to business, id say GTOWN is a match

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1572248-chance-me-my-college-list-will-chance-back-within-24-hours.html</a></p>

By the way, I was asking for chances on NYU Stern, so does that affect my chances at NYU?

bump…

bump… chances for stern assuming some improvement in SAT???

Georgetown seems good… NYU will be a high match, and UVA is a match or high match however UVA is INCREDIBLY hard to get into out of state. Good luck!
