Note: I'm not asking about my chances to get into Berkeley, just the regents program, so I won't list all my stats here.
SAT: 2400. APs: 5s on 18 tests and taking 5 more AP classes this year. SAT2s: 5 800s. GPA: ~4.75 weighted, 4.0 unweighted (some required classes are not offered as honors.) UC GPA is around 4.3. Especially advanced in math (took Calculus BC in 9th grade). 3x AIME Qualifier. Good essays in my opinion and the opinion of those who read them. OK but not outstanding EC's (have participated in some for a long time, though), and some clubs (not much leadership, though). ELC. National Merit. National AP Scholar. CSF. NHS. What are my chances for being a candidate for regents? I know that from then on, an interview determines who actually gets it, but do I have a good shot at being a candidate?

Also, two unrelated questions: Do the UC’s need counselor recommendations (I know there are no teacher recommendations), and, would diabetes be considered a “special circumstance?”

You should get it. I had similar stats/math stuff and I got in with not too many ECs, though apparently Berkeley admissions weights the number of ECs pretty heavily.

I was out of state, so no interview. Diabetes is meh . . depends on how good your essay is.

I think you have a very good shot at it. Gl!
