I moved from Dubai, UAE. I joined almost 70% of school's completion in the first semester of my sophomore year. since the absence was high, I could'nt receive credits for the first semester classes. Right now I am a junior and I take 5 AP classes and I hopefully will get a 1900 on my SAT. I am thinking to take the ACT but, i haven't decided as yet. I will be taking 6 AP test on may,2012. and in my senior year I will be taking all AP and I will take 8 AP tests. I want to get into UT and major in Aeronautical engineering. my gpa by the end of my first semester of my senior year will be a 4.9326 on a 6.0 scale. So what are my chances of getting into UT with this criteria??? And I also will be writing Essay C which will help tell my story and reason of why i have such low gpa. So please let me know if i will be accepted to UT. I graduate in 2013. It will be deeply appreciated if someone would answer this.

If you want to get into Aeronautical Engineering at UT, you will need higher than a 1900 on the SAT.
You will want a 1400 on the math and reading sections combined to feel good about your chances

Your chances at UT itself (not a specific program) depends almost entirely on your class rank. If you end up in the top 8-9% of your high school class, you will get in, for certain, if you don’t, then you won’t get in.

At A&M, you will automatically be accepted if in the top 10% of your class or if you get a 1300+ on the math and reading SAT combined. Otherwise, I’d still say that you have a pretty good shot at A&M.

Thanks alot for the feedback mate! By the way one of my friend, currently a senior applied to UT for Bio medical Engineering with a 2200 SAT and he was rank 21 out of 636 top 4% and still got rejected. The reason he got from the admissions council was that if he wanted to get an automatic admission for Engineering to UT, he had to be in the Top 2%. This scares me alot because then my chances is 0%
:(

Bump fast!

^BS

My rank was worse than his, and my SAT was the same, and I was admitted to Biomedical Engineering

Wow really!? hope i will also be able to make it. by the what was your rank? I need some hope

bump!! i will chance fast!

lol well slightly worse

31/620

well thats not that bad. I also wanted to ask you that if i take a subject test, i am deciding to take for APUSH, 2 days form now the registration closes and the Subject Test for it is on may 2. At the same time i will be taking my AP exam for it on may 7th. So since i will be studying for my AP, why dont i just take the Subject test for it also? I also have the book that is useful for both. You think that would help my chances for UT

bump! i will chance back fast

I am talking about UT for it is better

You will automatically get admitted if you are top 7 percent in Texas and attend a public school? Did you move to Texas? Furthermore, try getting an internship for aeronautical engineering and what are your extracurriculars like? Join some clubs and get a 2100 on the SAT. If you win some competitions and join some clubs and get a 2100 on the SAT and get ur GPA up to 5.1 you should be fine :D

I don’t think i will be able to achieve a 5.1 by the end of the first semester of my senior year. But any suggestions for what subject tests i should take? I want to major in Engineering.
Thanks

Bump!! I’ll chance back fast

The subject test in History will be useless for engineering at UT

But i think that the subject test does not have to be related to what we will be majoring in.

Subject tests aren’t required at UT in the first place, and engineering, in particular, at UT could care less about subject test scores…
Of course if you got very high scores in pertinent tests such as Math 2, Chem, and Physics, that could certainly help you a little.

alright i will be taking math lvl2 and apush sub tests. What scores according to you will be impressive to the college admission councils of UT and A&M??

bump!! i will chance back fast!!!
