Chances for getting into Choate Rosemary Hall?

Hi everyone, I am an 8th grader applying for CRH for my freshman year. Since I live close to the campus, I will be applying as a day student. I finished my application on time, don’t need financial aid, and was wondering if anyone could give me an idea on my chance for getting admitted. Choate is the only private high school I applied to because my parents didn’t want me to board, so it is very important to me.

I have straight A’s and work very hard in school. I spent a lot of time perfecting my essays, so they are unique and personal to my own morales and priorities. Also, I scored a 99 on my SSAT  . I play both soccer and basketball. In soccer, I play for a USA developmental academy soccer club, where I am captain and have been playing for 8 years. Recently, I have been invited to multiple US soccer regional training centers where we are evaluated by US soccer scouts as potential prospects for the USA youth national team. Additionally, I play the cello and piano, the cello for 5 years and the piano for 8. I just performed at Carnegie Hall in NYC on the cello, where I won second prize in the American Protégée Competition.

I reached out to the soccer coach and the strings director, and got recommendations from both of them. My interview went well, and I believe I was well prepared.

Finally, I have done some community service, ranging from participating in fundraising events supporting Alzheimer’s and Breast Cancer, to organizing food drives, to giving concerts at assisted living centers for the elderly during the holiday season.

Thank you for your time

With the caveat that I’m just the parent of a student who is applying to schools this year, and basing my thoughts largely on what I’ve read on this board, I have to think your chances are very good. Strong stats + strong grades + strong sport + strong music + well thought out essays + the fact that you’re not applying to competitor boarding schools sounds like a very good combination to me, assuming you have good academic recommendations and interview. Good luck!

Sorry to find out that you are waitlisted in another thread. It comes as a shock as it could be, even though anything can happen when it comes to this admission process. Your stats stood out among the many chance-me posts I’ve read. Hope things go well for you.

Thanks ruinedlegend, I really hope I can get off the waitlist, as many of my friends got accepted to choate but aren’t going, guess I will just have to wait and see what happens.
