Chances for good colleges

hello

White male from NY

GPA- 96 unweighted
SAT I- 740 Math, 690 CR, 770 Writing= 2200
SAT II- 800 US history, 800 World History, 790 Bio E
School doesn't rank, but I'm in the top 10%
Essays and Rec's- All very good

Varsity Cross Country, winter, and spring track all through high school
Captain of all of said teams senior year
Not good enough to be recruited, but could definitely walk on at a D III school

Most of my application was based on how I love history- Summer after freshman year I volunteered at a historical society, then the next 2 summers I volunteered at a national historic site for a total of around 130 hours.

I've worked for the past two summers, the first summer at an Oyster farm (40 hour work weeks) then at the local Boys and Girls Club (20 hour work weeks)

This is the second year I've been an editor on the school paper.

I'm treasurer of the honor society this year

I acolyte at my Church and am the youth representative to a liturgy committee.

I am commended for national merit (218), have perfect attendance throughout high school, and am an AP scholar with Distinction, but other than that do not have many awards.

My AP scores are - 5 AP euro, 5 AP US, 5 Bio, 5 Stat, 4 Lang. and Comp.
This year I'm taking AP gov, lit, and Spanish.

I've already applied ED to Tufts, but am also preparing apps to Amherst, Cornell, Connecticut College, GW, and Georgetown SFS. What do you guys think my chances are?

Hello white male from New York,

Decent/god chance at Tufts, less decent chance at Cornell and Gtown, and, well, Amherst rejects most applicants.

Is there anything that hinders me that you think stands out?

bump.......

in at gw and conn. good chance at tufts

Your SAT is in the top 1% of all college-bound seniors. Your GPA and rank are excellent. You are a varsity athlete, and you edit your school newspaper. I think you have a good chance of getting into a good college.

Thankyou (10char)

You have a good chance at all your schools due to your ranka nd SAT scores. Congrats! And I do believe that in a few weeks you'll be getting your letter welcoming you to our happy community of Tufts Jumbos. Good luck and let me know! :-) (I'm a senior here)

Thanks alot, Lolabelle. I'm really hoping for it.

I should mention that the selectivity for Tufts (26%) and Cornell are roughly the same, and Amherst and GTown are not too much more selective either (almost exact SAT scores, for instance). Now, that being said, since you applied EA to Tufts, your chances of getting in are enhanced a bit.

I think you have a good chance at where ever you apply. Good luck and thanks for you candid remarks.
