I think thats all there is, please tell me if theres anything i forgot. I know there are a lot of reaches so please tell me if i have a chance at any of them.

Should be fine at Michigan - they get rid of freshman year grades.

bump......anyone have any suggestions at my other choices, especially the reaches

49 views and still only 1 response.....

Well I also wanted to say I think you have too many colleges, but people have taken that offensively.

oh...ok...then just rate my chances at the reaches

New list:

Columbia
Cornell
Duke
John Hopkins
Washington Univ. - St. Louis
Northwestern
Carnige Mellon
Tufts
UMDNJ - Applying to all 8 affliated schools for med program
Drexel 7 yr. med
RPI 7 yr med

took out 4 or 5 reaches and all of the safteys and matches
hope nobody gets offended

Well, a college list shouldn't have all reaches. Read this thread...

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=96791

You don't want to get rejected from all your "REACH" schools, as they are reaches for a reason. All those schools are VERY selective, 1 in 3 students gets accepted.

I'd suggest 1-2 reaches, 2-3 matches, and 1-2 safeties. You never know, getting a full ride at a safety school would be more intriguing than paying 30K at an OOS private reach.

i know, i just want input on my chances at reaches so that i can narrow them down....i'm still going to apply to my safteys and what i think are my matches. Just by analyzing my reaches, i can eventually bring them down to 4 or 5, so that way, i have a good amount of safteys, matches, and reaches. thanks for the thread though, it was interesting to read

come on.....have a heart

Heres my rendition of your chances

You will have a hard time at the following schools due to your low verbal score and lackluster ECs (looks like a laundry list to me)
Columbia
Cornell
Duke
John Hopkins (only if you are applying to bio or other premed majors, which I'm conjecturing you will)

These are good reaches for you:
Washington Univ. - St. Louis
Northwestern
Carnige Mellon
Tufts

Chances at your top reaches are small. Taking out writing, you have an SAT of 1430, too low for the ivies as an Asian. Chicago, NWU, that level, may happen.

That verbal score is a bit low I'd say. I agree with the fact that you have a laundry list of activities. nothing sticks out. Your list should be like this:

Safety:
Rutgers University
Purdue University - West Layfette

Matches:
George Washington University
University of Mich - Ann Arbor
University of Rochester
NYU
Lehigh University
University of Illinois - Champaign

Reaches:
Washington Univ. - St. Louis
Northwestern
Carnige Mellon
Univ. of Chicago
Emory
Tufts
UMDNJ - Applying to all 8 affliated schools for med program
Drexel 7 yr. med
RPI 7 yr med

dooit, i was planning to apply to Hopkins and Duke for BME...would the low verbal score still hurt me for those majors...and what do you think i could do to improve my EC's and to make me stand out more.

suze, what do you mean "too low for the ivies as an asian"....does that mean asians have to do better than other people for the same school

BME is a competitive major... If you get your verbal above 700, you should be fine. As for the ECs, don't put all those clubs on your application.. maybe just the 3 with leadership and a couple without. That's basically all you can do now

wow....i have no chance at an ivy? anybody got ideas about any of the 3 med programs?

ok I never said that. Just get your verbal up and eliminate some of the clubs that you aren't too involved in, and you should be fine for any school. My first reply was based on the OP. Even if you don't get it up, you still have a shot

anyone have anyother insights on my chances at one of the 7 yr. programs....last chance before i stop bumping the thread.....

you'll never guess what i found on page 12 of this forum.....
