THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME

I think you should apply to MIT EA, because with your scores, I would say you have a solid chance.

Yeah, I’m planning to apply to Caltech and MIT EA. Thanks

Chance me and I will chance you back. Thanks

bump (10 char)

Right now I say you have around 40% chance of caltech/mit, but depending on how your science competitions go, your chances will increase. Stanford I would only give 20% chance just because its Stanford, you stand only a slightly better chance than the average applicant. Georgia Tech UT UTD (safety) are all good matches, expect to get in these.

Thanks. I didn’t realize that getting into Stanford was so much more difficult than getting into MIT or Caltech

Are there any other matches/a better safety that I should consider? Thanks

Also, possibly add Cornell, Carnegie Mellon. Any others I should consider?

Why do you need a safety? If you’re in-state in TX and in the top 10% of your class, which you are, you’re guaranteed admission to UT.

We don’t have rankings at my school, so technically there isn’t a top 10%. Also, admission to UT doesn’t necessarily mean admission to their engineering program, which is like in the top 10.

add National merit semifinalist (PSAT 223) if that means anything…

Every state school in Texas has a top 10% ranking - it’s legislatively mandated by the government. Those top 10% are automatically accepted to every state university in Texas.

Besides, with those scores, Georgia Tech and any lower ranked school is a safety (for GT, your FI is a 3516/3600 and the typical admit in 2008 was 3229/3600). Your main concern is whether you can get into MIT/Stanford.

Other matches/safeties might be Illinois or Purdue (though I hesitate to say safety for anything engineering!) I agree with the previous post though - reach for MIT/Stanford/ Caltech. I think you’ve got a good shot. Good luck!

Hey we got the same PSAT score in the same state! I think that youre into all of those Caltech MIT and Stanford, which you have pretty good shots at. Also, instead of UTD, have you considered Texas A&M as your safety? I think a good match that you’ll most likely get into could be Carnegie Mellon, especially if youre considering anything involving computer science

Great chance at all of the schools, I’d suggest applying EA to MIT and Caltech!

Thanks. Yeah, so apparently our counselor sends percentages of students that are within a GPA range. Since I have a 4.0 though, this shouldn’t be a problem.

I’d say that you have a great chance at all of the schools you are applying too. I’d say for MIT/Caltech you got a 40%. You have great ECs, especially in the math and sciences, which your going into, great choice. Of course, with MIT and Caltech, you can never be 100% sure what exactly they are looking for. I know a kid who applied to MIT with a 36 ACT, and was an SAT finalist and got waitlisted, then denied, but went to Northwestern.

sry, meant PSAT finalist lol
