Chances for H and MIT

Anybody????

in at harvard, out at MIT

Harvard and MIT are very different. Is there actually a compelling reason why you are applying to both aside from their names?

ur stats are really impressive. wish mine were half as good

Why exactly are you applying to MIT?

MIT cares about your interest in science and technology. You haven't taken physics or bio and show no extra-curricular activities even remotely associated with science.

even for say, business?

Read post 59 to see interest in MIT. I really want to go to Boston. I loved the whole Boston atmosphere and I want to be challenged in an intellectual setting. No better place than Harvard and MIT. (btw, i Have yet to be really challenged. It's bothering me and I want to go to the place that will stretch me the most.)

i didnt get it
why eeveryone say Hispanic efrects?

Harvard medical school is in Boston. Harvard and MIT are in Cambridge, MA. Get that straighten out.

Cambridge is across the river from Boston and a 5 minute T ride from Boston. straightened out :) I visited the city, and Cambridge is basically part of Boston.

Bump??????

what is your other half?

If you still have an opportunity to submit an essay to MIT, I would focus on the self directed study you've done that is science related (e.g. your comment about string theory).

For MIT the question for the adcom is going to be fit, not intelligence or drive. If you have the opportunity to address that question in an essay effectively, you've got just as good a chance at MIT as you do at Harvard.

As it is... 60%+ for each. It is truly difficult to chance ANYONE higher than that for schools that don't have room for >75% of the applicants who could do well there.

You have really good chances, considering the URM status and perfect ACT scores. I think Harvard converts ACT to SATs and then superscores. You're ECs are also pretty good.

Btw, do you go to Berkeley?

Your EC's are really impressive... As an URM, that gives you a boost, but I'd say the majority of your status as an applicant comes from your extremely solid community service record and especially your standardized test scores.. All in all, you have a great resume and it seems really well-rounded... I guess the only thing that might be something to ponder about would be the focus of your EC's... don't get me wrong... they're excellent, but I think it would be great if you could tie them all into one certain theme, let's say e.g. music or medicine or politics... Again, solid application and you have some pretty good chances at your intended schools... In the end, I'm sure the best college for you will accept you and, when that happens, good luck!! :)

btw, can you chance me too please?: <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/577809-chances-please-junior-fl.html?highlight=miami%2C+florida%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/577809-chances-please-junior-fl.html?highlight=miami%2C+florida</a>... thanks :D
