Chances for Harvard and Full Rides to Rice/WashU/USC

Hello. My parents currently make ~165k a year so I'm probably not getting any financial aid. I'm looking at full tuition scholarships to Rice/WashU/USC and admission to Harvard. I'm also looking into Duke, Carnegie Mellon, and Stanford. My major is undecided, although I think I'm going to double major in music and a related science field.

Thanks for your time!

Rice for asian lol.

Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww :open_mouth: Your stats are as great as they can get, pretty much. Great SAT score, veryyyy good GPA. The only thing is that your ECs seem somewhat stereotypical and average, especially for the Asian applicant. Having the AIME/AMC/USAMO is great too, but also very asian :P

I’d say reach at Harvard, and in at Rice/Wash/USC. don’t quote me on this but i’m also prettyyy sure you could get full rides there too.
Stanford is a reach for you but you seem like youd be a good fit for them, have you considered applying there EA? :stuck_out_tongue: anyways you have a fantastic resume, just write good essays and distinguish yourself
chance me back if you have time? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/736548-chance-me-top-schools-ivies.html

your stats are amazing! you will deffinetly be a strong applicant at all the schools you plan to apply to. Harvard and Stanford are reaches just because they are for everybody, but you have a very good chance at getting accepted.

You DO know you have to submit your completed application no later than Dec 1 to be considered for the full tuition Trustee scholarship at U Southern Calif, correct? You are already eligible for their 1/2 tuition NMF scholarship. Applying early to USC will NOT preclude you from applying early to Stanford or any other limited EA college. Now, as fare as their full tuition scholarship, the decision to award that scholarship is decided after you have been interviewed by a 3 person committee , which will include a professor from the school you have declared an interest in[ music, science], that is, if you are lucky enough to be offered the chance to interview. A great letter of recommendation from your research professor sent directly to a colleague at USC could be a factor in the final decision. Of course you have to shine in the interview as well. Normally only around 200 students are offered interviews each year for the Trustee scholarship, out of 16000 students applying to USC.

I think you have a good shot at all of your schools. You’ll probably get into Duke – they love awesome SAT scores like yours.

Definitely in at all the schools. I think you have a very good chance of a full tuition merit scholarship at Wash U. I am not familiar with USC and Duke but i know people with records less stellar than yours that got full merit scholarships at Wash U. Emory too offers full merit scholarships.

If my parents made $165K a year, I would be expecting them to foot my bill and would go to the best college i can get into  Just kidding though – Wash U and Emory are as good as the ivies.

Chance me back if u can …
