<p>I’ll be honest, if you weren’t African American I’d say your chances are a bit below “competitive”… Seeing as how you are you’re right on the money for competitive. That doesn’t mean much considering that the entire incoming class could get in a giant car wreck AND HARVARD COULD STILL fill another class with ZERO drop in quality. that is true for many of the top large universities (and for the top few LACs with sub 25% admission rates I’d imagine).</p>
<p>Many people won’t tell you this, but Harvard means nothing to your likely hood of success if you get denied, but “shouldn’t have”. It has been proven using samples of Harvard rejects and admitted students that as long as their stats were comparable at the time of admissions, they reached the same level of success in terms of PhDs earned, average salary, international awards, ect. The book that did a bit of research into it was called harvard shmarvard or something like that.</p>
