Test scores are fine (good, but not outstanding for those schools). Your GPA is good, but a bit more context about your school would be nice too.

ECs are...I can't really judge, actually. Your passion seems to be in music, so consolidating that is important. Science Olympiad isn't really anything beyond a simple commitment unless you're an officer or have placed in the regional/state level. The internship is also good.

Your chances are fine, but these schools are reaches for everyone (you hear that a lot, right?). But in your case, I don't think there is anything other than the music (I'm not sure about the level of the awards) that would make them less than reaches. Definitely play up the music.

thnx yea my EC's aren't that great
and i prolly left some things out too

bump
asdfasdfkjasdfasjdhfsadfasdf

Where in columbus do you go to school? My family is moving to columbus.

I think you have a good chance at Ivies, obviously varying depending on the school If you weren't accepted into at least two or three ivies I would be surprised. Make sure to focus your application on one specific interest of yours (i'm guessing music since so many of your ECs are geared towards it) Show them your passion for music.

Other factors: It hurts that your asian, but not that much. It helps coming from an Ohio, but not that much. Any awards? leadership positions? might help tip the scale.

yea i know so many really exceptional asians out there...
well the school orchestra concertmaster thing is definately a leadership postition b/c the position requires me to guide the orchestra
and the youth praise leader might be one too
but the thing is i moved from one country to another (USA between Korea) so many times in my life that i never had a lot of time to fully develop something in one place
a lot of my awards are the ones i got in Korea
do you think those will count?
btw im thinking of doing ED in UPenn. i might get in here maybe?

bump^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

sigh bump again

bump^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I think you have a pretty good chance!

Chance me, everyone!

Okay, the moving thing is important. It explains the ECs a little bit more. MAKE SURE COLLEGES KNOW YOU HAVE MOVED. Korean awards definitely count.

If you apply ED to Penn, I think you have a great shot there. Honestly, if you want to go to Penn, definitely ED. That's a huge tip factor.

thi is great thnx guys

bumpy bump

Why don't you just pick 1 thread to bump?...:)

buumping again

another bump

I think you stand a good chance. Many students will have similar scores, and you do seem to have a commitment to music. You should focus on that. Also, have a killer essay (I know everyone says that) but really make sure you're proud of it because the essay really does matter to top schools.

i definitely think you need a boost in SATs. they're good but not great.
your ECs seem really music focused, but to me, there is nothing that really sticks out as wow...you're really good. you should audition for a prestigious music orchestra if you're really talented (i'm not really familiar with any music groups in the ohio area but if you played somewhere equivalent of Carnegie Hall that would be amazing) :]
also, i think your work experience is lacking. colleges really value any kind of work experience and since your volunteer hours are amazing maybe you could spend a little more time on working

that's my opinion and good luck and i would look at some safeties...we all need them :]
