Just curious. Obviously the decisions are nearly done but I figure I could still get some feedback on my chances.

Science Research, won a few awards and currently presenting at a science symposium with a shot to make national comp

Middle class NJ area, school is tailored to the lower end of students so not a ton of APs were available, however the upper 5% or so is very competitive.

Most impressive grade I could think of would be my A+ in AP Calc this year, midyear grades were all A+s and one A in AP classes.

30-70 maybe. NJ hurts you some as this area submits a ton of qualified applicants. Looks like you might be missing some leadership in ECs. Otherwise, you have a shot. Love those match and safety schools!

I don't mean to disappoint you but I will have to inform you that you can't take Math 1 and Math 2 both as two of your three SAT II subject tests. Where did I come to know this? Well, a long time back I had sent them an email asking for their policy on subject tests.

an extract from Harvard's reply:
"-Applicants should not take two math tests as two of their three subject tests."

Andy, if that is so why havent they rejected me yet? Maybe Im unclear, but would they have already sent a letter of rejection if that was one of their core requirements?

haha, I'd probably have to be "likely letter" material (and last I checked, I haven't gotten any mail from Harvard since they confirmed receiving the Common App, lol) to have them overlook it with the thousands and thousands of stacks of paper they have to read. Now they have one less stack...I just went and checked EVERY school I applied to concerning the SAT II's. Most required two, Harvard was the only to require three. Well, lesson learned people: TAKE THREE SAT II'S!!

One other thing, they called me for an interview about a month ago and I took it. Why would they do that if they had already tossed it out? Especially since somebody already mentioned NJ has quite afew applicants to interview.

Shark_bite, I only took Math 1 but I took it twice (although it was "IC" for one and just "Level 1" for another, those count as two different tests?)

I also got an interview request a month or so ago and I interviewed (interviewer only asked for my SAT I, didn't even mention II's). I think they try to interview as many of the applicants as possible, although I don't know if they take the time to look at whether every applicant had 3 SAT II's to choose who to interview.
I'm so angry at myself because I know this was at least partially my fault (if not completely) because I'm sure this is on the Harvard site somewhere. Anyways, I guess I'll just have to hope this isn't as bad as I perceive (probably is though)

Bobo,
If they called you for an interview after they reviewed your application then they might have overlooked your SAT II combination. So keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best. :)

I wouldn't recommend it but he was accepted

Phew! Well at least I see that isn't an instant reject. However, his scores were higher than mine. I guess it basically comes down to the essays and ECs. From what I've seen, my combination of ECs is uncommon, so maybe that will give me an advantage. Also, my essay topic was really serious. More of a personal statement on individualism than a typical essay. That could either go over really well or terribly.

I think it comes down to showing that you're not a one-dimensional candidate if you do 2 maths SATs. I think it wouldn't be MUCH less regarded than a maths and a physics or chemistry SAT. The important thing is that you can do stuff fairly well besides math and science.

That band thing may be enough to drag you up, but I think that your essays would help the most here - did you write somewhat quirky essays?

Iam surprised they will even accept Math 1 test. Most of the school's my son is looking at only accept Math2 and you also have to have a science one.

My essay definitely wasn't one of the standard ones. I didn't really talk about past experiences or even future plans. I wanted them to get an idea of how I think and who I am. Whether or not this was a good choice, I still don't know.
I also wrote a really long response to the activity short answer. I think it was longer than my personal statement which hovered right around 500 words.
