I'm applying to Harvard Law School (I have just recently submitted my application online and the LORs and my transcript should be getting to them soon). I've always wanted to attend Harvard, and it would be great if someone could perhaps share their thoughts on my chances:

UGPA: around 3.6 (note that if you exclude my first year, it goes up to a bit above 3.8)
LSAT: 169
Some extracurriculars:
- student government for 2 years (but am not president)
- volunteered for a phone line for sexual assault survivors for 2 years
- raised $15,000 for a conference on integration of arts and science
- created a workshop and facilitated it at a national conference on environmental justice
- have worked around 10 hours a week during the school year and full time in the summers
- co-editor-in-chief for a school journal
- one summer, my job was to give youth in at-risk areas jobs (with the YMCA)

I'm also of Pakistani origin, but now live in Canada (I'm a citizen of both countries). I don't think South Asians are a URM, but I thought I would mention it, just in case... I also wrote about what I felt during the immigration from Pakistan to Canada for my personal statement. Is that too typical?

I really have no idea what the admissions committee might think of my application. I feel like I'm all over the place... Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer thoughts!

You have done some worthwhile things during your college career, and your personal story sounds compelling.

Harvard evaluates the numbers first, and then other factors come into play, particularly leadership. Very few, if any, students with your numbers receive that additional consideration. No harm in trying, however, and if you do get in, please let this board know. In the meanime, good luck!

I’m always a bit iffy on predictions for schools below CCN:D.

But lawschoolpredictor confirms my… predictions. A 3.6/169 makes one a “consider” at the rest of the T14, and a “strong consider” at Cornell. I’m willing to bet that the OP will get into at least one of those.

I also think that, for most schools, the LSAT is weighted a bit more heavily than the GPA. A 169 is a great score for everything below Chicago (and may be a great score for some schools above, but a higher GPA will be needed). A 3.6 is a pretty high GPA, which I think falls above the 25th percentile GPA of many of the T14s.

I know that my numbers are low. My first year grades were pretty bad… I had less than a 3.0. I was kind of hoping the improvement from that to 3.8s and 3.9s every semester might be helpful, but perhaps not?

In any case, Harvard was a pipe dream and I thought there was no harm in trying.

Actually - I’m also interested in pursuing a joint JD/MSW, or going into public interest law. Would anyone know how I could find more information on which schools offer a joint MSW or have really strong public interest programs?
