I'm trying to make a list of schools that I should bother applying to, and right now my list is a little too extensive. (I don't want to apply to like 15 schools and have an overwhelming decision to make when I get all my decisions). Right now I'm thinking of...

-Haverford College
-Brandeis
-College of the Holy Cross
-Boston College
-Gettysburg College
-Colgate
-University of Virginia
-William and Mary
-Trinity College
-UNC Chapel Hill

Here are my stats:

Summer activities include mission trips to New Orleans, Haiti, and Mexico, week long student council workshops, keystone government camp, Harvard debate camp

Your list is refreshing for a change. It’s full of schools that fit your stats, and it’s obvious you’ve done your research. There’s some leadership in your ECs, which is always good. Hopefully your AP history score will be a 5, considering you’re going to be a history major.

I took off the schools I’m not familiar with, but here:
-Haverford College: Match
-Brandeis: Match
-Boston College: Low Match/High Safety
-Colgate: High Match
-University of Virginia: High Match/Low Reach
-William and Mary: Low Reach
-UNC Chapel Hill: Reach

I’d say (and this is not common advice) to add a few reaches. Good job!

Haverford: match
Brandeis: match
Boston College: high match/low reach
Colgate: high match/low reach
UVA: reach
William & mary: high match
UNC: low reach

To add on to this, I am also taking AP Lit, AP Statistics, and AP Physics B this year, along with honors government. (My school doesn’t offer many AP courses)

-Haverford: low reach
-Colgate: low reach
-BC: low reach
-UNC Chapel Hill: low reach
-Brandeis: high match
-UVA: high match
-William and Mary: high match
-Trinity: low match
-Holy Cross: low match
-Gettysburg: safety

10 isn’t a terrible number of schools to apply to, but I definitely wouldn’t apply to any more. If anything, have 3-4 reaches, 3-4 matches, and 1-2 safeties.

-Haverford College: REACH
-Brandeis: HIGH MATCH
-College of the Holy Cross: HIGH MATCH
-Boston College: HIGH MATCH
-Gettysburg College MATCH
-Colgate HIGH MATCH
-University of Virginia: REACH
-William and Mary: LOW REACH
-Trinity College MATCH
-UNC Chapel Hill LOW REACH
