like which other colleges??

thanks

.................................

what are my chanes?? anyone else?

I actually thought about it and I wouldnt do Emory ED if I were you. I think you'll get in anyway. NU is more personable than emory and has a better reputation, but socially they are similar. I would look to a few Ivies as well as reach EDs, I would assume Emory RD is a lock.

If you can raise the SAT even 50 pts I'd say good/ decent shot at Brown, Penn, Dartmouth, or Columbia ED. Columbia is very different socially than Emory though, the other three are more similar.

hey, and first off, thanks for your reply.

Whats NU?

Im thinking of doing what you are saying, and I really like the idea. I visited Emory twice, and I do like the school. What do you have to say about the school academically and socially speaking. Colombia looks great, but upon visiting it, I felt "stupid" in that the atmosphere was a little above my league.

Thanks

Its Northwestern. Honestly, it might be your best bet for now (with your current SAT) but you should visit before ED of course. I think its silly to think a school is outside your league, have you considered the others though (Duke, Dartmouth, Brown, Penn)? They are much more similar to Emory in terms of social life (laid back house parties etc as opposed to NYC).

the reason i think those schools are "outside my league" is because all the kids applying to them are the top 10 kids of the grade.

i definietly want like a laid back social life(like not NYC). how would you more describe emory's social life?

..............................

anyone else? please

Emory is pretty "laid back" but the students I met there (I lived there a summer and a little into the fall) didn't seem to have the camraderie you see other places. There was a little too much "who do you know" type of action, and most students seemed to hate this level of cliqueiness. Sort of like a high school depicted in the movies.

I advise Northwestern as a midstep between the Ivies and Emory. I think you have a STRONG shot.

a little off topic, but what should a student have who is applying ED to emory? test scores? gpa?

what else can you say about emory..socailly speaking, etc.

and thanks for your reply :-)

would you also say my shot ED to Emory is strong? If so, what areas excel my app...and anything i shoudl include/something i might be missing....thanks

Sorry, stupid question, I'm new to the board, but what does URM mean?

under represented minority

yea, i'm a hispanic male with similar stats as you, and I'm applying to emory, john hopkins, and dartmouth. everyone seems to be saying "yea you have a decent shot at dartmouth, but then again, no one has a good one", so hopefully that will work out. find out more about what colleges offer what majors and the quality of the majors. while I am not 100% sure, I want to try pre-med, and from what I have gathered, the only other good schools for pre-med that I am not applying to are Washinton at St. Louis and Harvard. good luck in your search. latinos!

haha thanks. i really hope i get into emory.
