Chances for Hispanic guy at A&M (Please Read)

Hello guys, I would really appreciate if you could tell me what my chances of getting at A&M are and what other schools I have a chance of getting in. Thank you in advance.

My stats
Graduation Year: HS class of '08
School: Urban, extremely competitive. Offers the IB program. (in Texas) I have moved a lot because of my parents :( I have been every year of High School in a different school. :( Which I feel hasn't been a positive thing for me at all.
Class Rank: 130 out of 525.
GPA: 3.3 I get mostly B's and A's in school (all the classes I have taken in HS have been regulars(Regular Classes) I came to USA about 4 years ago, no one ever told me about advanced classes (AP/honors/etc) and how important they were to bring your grade up and get into some good college. I thought that all I had to do was go to High School, graduate and then I could go to a good University. Yes I now, very naive way to think but as I said before no one was ever there to tell me "Hey man, I know you really want to go to college and be a successful person blah blah blah, I think you should take AP/Honors classes because that will really help you get into a good college and boost your grade up". Same about extracurriculars, no one ever told me they were necessary. By doing research on college websites is that I learned about it.

My first two years of high school were a little difficult because I couldn't speak much English. I personally think that if I could go back and have taken AP/Honors/advanced courses that I would have done pretty good on them. Maybe get mostly B's. I definitely think I had the potential if I had been informed or if my life had been different or if I had stayed in the USA and not go to Central America. But why talk about this when I am already screwed and there is no way of fixing this.

Tests
SAT
Math : 530
Reading : 540
Writing : 530

Activities
Member of Student Council (1 year) (sophomore year)
Member of DECA (1 Year) (sophomore year)
I plan on joining at least 2 clubs on my senior year.

Other notes
Hispanic male (Born in the USA, parents from Central America) Moved to Central America at age 7 came back to USA at age 14.
Fluent is Spanish and English
I studied my Elementary and Middle school in Central America.
If I go to college I would be a First Generation College Student.
I can probably get good recommendation letters from teachers/employer because I am a nice guy and I get along with everyone. I also can probably make a good essay.
Relatively low-income family. They will not help me economically. So I will need scholarships/financial aid/loans.

I want to major in Business.

(My #1 choice would be UT, but after seeing so many threads in here I realize that I have no chance at all to get in. So my #1 choice is now Texas A&M at College Station)

Please tell me what are my chances at the following schools(and the chances to get in their Business schools/programs):

A&M
University of Houston
SMU
Baylor
TCU
Texas Tech
University of Texas at Dallas

I think money isn't very much of a big deal, I can work hard and I don't care if I have a big debt. I can pay it off eventually.

Please tell me any others schools that I have a chance to get in to(doesn't matter if they are out-of-state) List any reaches, matches, safeties. Also, tell me if being Hispanic helps me or hurts me. I would greatly appreciate it. (Please don't say community college, I want to go to an official 4 year college/university right after I graduate from High School)

Viewing all of the extracurricular activities and Ap's/honor's that people have in this website and seeing how other people say "no, you don't have a chance at all", "You wont get in, your extracurriculars are weak" and blah blah blah with their stats which are good makes me feel extremely depressed. If I don't get accepted at A&M(I know that A&M is conservative and that would be very sad for me.

Feel free to give me any advice/info/etc, anything that could be beneficial to know.

Sorry if I have bored anyone in here. I'm really sorry.

Thank you very much in advanced for your help.

I definitely think admissions officers will take all of your extenuating circumstances into consideration. Your English seems very good now. Try to write essays that shine. Have your English teacher edit them. Your SAT's are slightly above average on the national scope and you've been through a lot of stuff. You might want to try taking the ACT. If you can get an ACT score of 26ish I'd say you have an even better shot at some of those schools.

I really hope colleges will be understanding. You seem driven.

Texas A&M: Your SAT scores are in the 50% zone for CR and writing and just out of the 50% zone for math. GPA is probably a bit below average. If they consider your situation, match. If not, slight reach.

University of Houston: You're in all of their zones. Match.

SMU: You're a bit below their averages so I'd say reach/slight reach.

TCU: Match.

Texas Tech: Match.

UT-D: Slight reach.

Baylor: Reach/slight reach.

I highly recommend taking the ACTs, once again. Try the Princeton Review ACT preparation book and The Real ACT Book. Princeton Review helped me immensely.

EDIT: Also, even if people say a school is a "reach," you should definitely apply regardless. Don't give up. Good luck :)

Thank you, thank you a lot for your response Stepherzzz. I will try to take the ACT as soon as I can.

I will greatly appreciate more responses from more people. Thank you.

Bump, what schools could possibly be a safety for me?

bump, :(

At least one more honest opinion please. Thank you and God bless you.

Ive moved a lot a ton so I know wat u feel man. I Just graduated from a school in Central America, now Im headed to FLorida.
Anyways, I know a girl in my class who got into A&M this year with a 2.9 and a 1730 on the SAT. She had sent a letter of reccommendation and she also had a extreme case of legacy where like 4 generations have gone there.

I think u should be able to get into A&M, its not incredibly difficult.

SMU and TCU: that same girl also got into TCU and SMU. again ur stats are higher than hers. I know TCU and SMU are easier to get into so u shoulod again get in there as well.

Houston: ok thats a big safety imo. I dont know why ppl listed it as a match. its def a safety.

The rest im not sure of. good luck! btw, where in CA where u living?

Hi, acarta. Thank you a lot for your response. I was living in Honduras, what about you?

More responses from people are welcomed, thanks a lot.

Don't forget that a great GPA at a lesser college can win you a transfer to a better one.

more answers are welcomed.
