"So I do think that purely Spanish people who are putting themselves down as minorities might be taking advantage of the system..."

-ok i get what you're saying. but each individual's personal situation is different. for example: i have always been ****ed by the system because I have a Spanish last name and because my parents are immigrants. what do you think about that?

can you give us details about how the system has failed you?

i actually dont feel comfortable discussing it here

Look the problem that it seems everyone on this board fails to realize is that college admissions is, for the most part, unquantifiable, especially when dealing with URM's. The adcoms contextualize applicants, before making their decisions.

Just saw this and it applies to me so here’s my story. I am both white and hispanic. By definition, “Hispanic and Latino Americans are Americans with origins in the Hispanic countries of Latin America or in Spain, and in general all persons in the United States who self-identify as Hispanic or Latino.” Also, if you look at the Census forms, it asks you if you are Hispanic/Latino, then lists countries that this applies to, and includes Spain. It then asks race (black, white, etc). Essentially, Hispanic is an ethnicity, while white is a race. A person of Hispanic ethnicity can be of any race.
