Chances for HMC?

Hi, I’m thinking of applying to the math major at HMC and I’d just like to know my chances. My test scores are solid but my GPA/class rank isn’t that great since my school does things differently. Also, the reason I don’t have a lot of ECs is because of family commitments… There are a lot of parts of my application that require additional info and I hope colleges will consider that.

Demographics: Asian (shocking… I know), Female
ACT: 35 (one time)
SAT II: Math 2: 800, Chem: 790
GPA: 3.96 UW. Class rank is based on UW and literally everyone has a 4.0 so rip me.

My school doesn’t offer many AP classes and I’m the only person in my grade who took AP Calc BC (self studied… got a 5). I know calc isn’t a big deal but my school doesn’t even OFFER the class, and I put in a lot of effort to study for it and I think it says a lot about me.

ECs:
Library volunteer since jr high
Tutoring in math and science
Red cross volunteer
Orchestra for 4 yrs
I’m in a few other school clubs but nothing big… Like I said, I have a lot of family commitments.

Anyways, please let me know my chances.

I’d say you have a decent shot. Your stats are solid. Spend a lot of time & craft your essays carefully. Make sure you understand Mudd.

Not sure what you mean by family commitments, but you could ask your GC to mention this in their recommendation.

@intparent Thanks. I just meant that I have a lot of responsibilities in my family so I don’t have a lot of time for ECs. And I will try to get my GC to mention it

Well, I knew what you meant generally. I was wondering more specifically.
