chances for honors?

I submitted my app for GW a few days ago and I really like the school, but it's a little bigger than I'd like so being in the honors program would make it completely perfect. So if anyone could try to comment on my chances (for honors and for merit aid) I'd really appreciate it :)

stats:
GPA: 4.36 W (unofficially top 10%, school just shows a distribution chart)
SAT: 2350 (760M, 790CR, 800W)
SAT II: 800 Math 1, 800 US History, 750 Lit

other:
ECs: Coprez of GSA, leadership in Amnesty International, Model Congress, summer language class, membership in a local arts committee, and a few others
Awards: National Merit/National Achievement, GW Book Award, Community Service Award
Recs and Essays: pretty good I'm guessing (based on decisions received so far)
Other: got into Georgetown EA if that means anything for my chances

Thanks for sharing any opinions :)

I’m confused. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/georgetown-university/1261630-essay-word-limit-question-accepted-students.html</a> Post 7?

I don’t see any contradiction- I got into Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service EA and I applied RD to GW so I’m wondering about my chances for the honors college…what’s the confusion?

i think you have a good chance.
umm idk if its a good idea to mention Gtown or not … probably not …

actually just don’t do it .

OK I get it. GW is weird RD- did you visit and generally act interested?

Oh sorry for the confusion, I just mentioned Gtown in case it was an indicator of anything (like do you guys think someone who was apparently a strong enough candidate to get into Gtown has a got shot at GW honors), not that I was going to mention it to GW if that’s what you thought I meant…

And yeah I’ve visited and expressed interest. What’s weird about GW RD?

you’re good as long as your essay is compelling about why you want gw and the honors program. stats are superlative, obviously.

Why they are weird: I think GW knows that some people think they can use them as a “safety” RD, so every year at decision time, people with great stats are rejected. Look up past years if you want to see- there is a lot of outrage. I am convinced that these are people who had no prior contact with the school, so I think you are fine if you have acted interested so far. You could even stay in touch with the admissions person from your area.
I was in the Honors Program and liked it very much. I think you will be accepted, with Honors Program, and merit money in addition to any FA you qualify for.

Example thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/george-washington-university/890486-waitlisted-safety-2.html</a></p>

oh dear, i’m kind of scared about that now…i listed georgetown on my application as another school i was applying too though i put a few safeties on there too (i listed all the dc schools to show that my interest was being in the city) to show that gw wasn’t my safety. do you think i’ve killed my chances?

is there anything i can do at this point to convince them that they’re my top choice? i really do love gw :(

GW over Georgetown SFS??? That’s a no brainer! If you don’t get into GW, going to Georgetown is spectacular.

I think you’re in- with merit too

haha very true  it’s just that idk if i can afford georgetown so getting into gw is important for me. well i emailed them b/c i had a question anyway and threw in a bit about how important the school was to me (it fit since my question concerned admissions so hopefully they’ll know that it’s genuine) so hopefully that’ll help take care of the tufts syndrome dilemma.
