Chances for Honors?

Northeastern is my first choice school, and I've applied EA. I'm expecting an acceptance(as much as you can expect an acceptance, nothing is ever certain), but really hoping for Honors, and not really sure where I stand on that.

GPA: UW- about 3.8 W- about 4.55 (We use a weird system for weighting, you get .05 added to your GPA for Honors and .07 for AP, but it's cumulative throughout your high school career.) All honors and AP's since Freshman year.

SAT: 2180 M:720 W:760 (essay 10) CR: 700. Retook the test in October, hoping for a nice increase.

SAT Subject: US History 750 Math II 770 Physics 630(Not sending physics).
AP Courses: Sophomore: AP Stats(4), Junior: AP Physics(3), AP Calc AB(3), APUSH(5), APES(Didn't take the AP, teacher was on Maternity leave, we learned nothing in the class, and I was fairly sure that I would fail it.) Senior: AP Euro, AP Bio, AP Lit, AP Comp Sci.

EC: Library assistant at local library(10 hrs/week), started as an internship Sophomore year and hired at it's conclusion, only high school student there to work the reference desk instead of shelving books and the like. Expecting an excellent recommendation from them. Community service with an organization that pairs students with disabilities with a peer mentor for fun activities such as bowling and holiday parties that they might not experience on their own (15 Hrs/Year).

Clubs: Debate team since Freshman year, state finalist, one of the top debaters in the league, Co-Captain Senior Year (My teacher rec is also my debate coach, and he said he's going to work debate into the letter.) Treasurer of a student run enterprise that promotes entrepreneurship in students. Student Council treasurer since Freshman year. Some other small things, but most of my EC time is spent on Debate.

Confident in my essay, my English teacher that read it said it was the best he'd seen in the entire application season so far. Expecting decent recommendations, my GC rec is going to be fairly generic, but I'm expecting my teacher and employer to be excellent (Both have said that they will be very positive).

Demographics: I'm a white male from Southwestern CT, no legacy status at Northeastern, not 100% sure on income, but I'm not applying for FA.

Overall, from reading here, I think I'm a strong candidate for admission, but not so sure on the Honors program. Any input that you have would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I see no reason why you wouldn’t get into the university (but yes, nothing is certain). Honors is harder to predict, since there aren’t hard numbers available like for general admissions. The page on Honors admissions does have some useful information, though: [Admission & Frequently Asked Questions - Honors Program](http://www.northeastern.edu/honors/prospective-students/admission-frequently-asked-questions/)
Basically, you’ll be considered for Honors if you’re in the top 10%, but it’s not clear to me what that percent is based on: Scores? Grades? Some subjective and mysterious internal ranking system created by the admissions office?

If you don’t get in right away, you can apply to join Honors after your first or second semester if you have a 3.8 GPA: [Joining Once You Are Here - Honors Program](http://www.northeastern.edu/honors/prospective-students/joining-once-you-are-here/)

Honors admissions is by which college you apply to - they pick a certain percentage of kids from each college - some have higher stat kids than others.

Thanks for your replies. I’m applying to CCIS as a CS major.

I don’t think NU takes subject tests.

“Northeastern National Merit, National Achievement, and National Hispanic Scholars will also be invited into The University Honors Program…”
I think Honors is guaranteed if you are in this group. Otherwise? I am not sure of the difficulty.

HSG

id say yes…i got in last year with slightly less enticing stats which i think is what the top 10% is based off of
