chances for honors

my high school counselor says im automatically in for UW but that honors is not as likely

be honest, what are my chances?

GPA: UW 3.75 W 4.25 (i dont know my rank)
SAT: 2010 (630cr 660m 720 w) retaking and expecting 2100-2200
hardest class schedule... senior year im taking 5 ap classes and self-studying 3, totalling 9 for grades 9-12. by the time i gradute i will have 20 UofW credits because im enrolled in UofW classes that are offered at my high school, which btw is in the suburbs of seattle.
ACT: 27, just retook i think i got about 30 but i may or may not submit, im just kind of over the act

essays will be amazing
recs are amazing
non-URM but i bring diversity as a gay student. i also have a chronic skin disease and have bean sexually harassed at my school so im a very high profile person at my school

ECs and community service are good. im too lazy to go into detail right now but my biggest one is model united nations club of which im the president and im taking our school to our first international conference ever, and im also ASB parliamentarian, so ive got this whole theme of internationalism going on in my application.

eh?

have bean sexually harassed at my school so im a very high profile person at my school

^ if I were you, I would NOT put that in your application. I feel horribly for you, but that does not reflect a positive reason why you are "high profile" at your school.

I have no idea on your chances, if your recs and essays are indeed "amazing" you may have a shot, but that is often an overused and undeserved term when referring to those pieces of paper, so it's a little hard to tell (though, it is def possible that they are awesome, I'm just trying to give a worst-case scenario). Best of luck though, you'll do very good!

YEAH! worst idea ive ever heard of! Definitely dont put on your app how you are a sexually harassed gay guy with psoriasis (or whatever skin problem you have).

Especially don't talk about being harassed or having a skin disease.
Not to sound terribly rude, but if i was an Admission counselor, i would not want to be accepting a kid who talks about their skin diseases. If anything i would be repulsed and not accept you because of subconscious fear of being around diseased.

haha i have vitiligo which is what michael jackson claimed to have when he died his skin white. just one of my eyes is white not some crazy psoriasis action or anything

but yeah bigtwix, i totally agree. i worded that statement like a complete pity party in this post. i mention it in my applications but i dont make it a huge deal

vc08, i havent read my recs so i dont technically know that they are amazing but the fact that all 3 of the teachers who wrote them offered to write them for me without me having to ask them tells me that they will probably be really good

all 3 of the teachers who wrote them offered to write them for me without me having to ask them tells me that they will probably be really good

^haha, yeah, that's what teachers do to everyone in their AP classes at my school, which is about 50 students total. Who knows, maybe yours are once in a lifetime ones....gl though!

so basically, if you have psorasis and write an essay about overcoming all the horrible crap that comes with having the disease, you're a reject at the college?

great.

i don't think that's what anyone was saying. you have to be appropriate, as if you are applying for a job. do you want your employer to know about a skin disease you have, or how you are in charge of a club that is "gowing global"? you make the choice.

Hmm, well all of the skin comments aside, I'd say you have a chance at Honors. The GPA and SAT might be a little low (especially GPA, as all the people from my school who got in had 3.95+ UW), but it's possible.
