Bumpity bump bump.

Very good chance at all the schools you listed. Your extracurriculars are unique and show a high level of passion and achievement, and you’re a strong student. Good luck!

Thanks, xquiksilverx. I appreciate the help!

I think you have an incredible chance. And it’s very unique that youre a competitive male dancer in diff genres. Right an amazing essay and I am almost positive you’ll get into at least two if not more of the schools you listed. Pretty high chance with ivies.

Please chance back. I’m kind of new so I don’t know how to post my chance thread but if you click on my profile it’s the only topic I’ve posted

@Avalde4: Thanks! I chanced you back (with a really long post, sorry). Thanks for the help!

Bumpa bumpa bumpa chaka.

You seem to be a very strong candidate for even the most competitive schools. Any kind of nationally ranked recognition is excellent and you have several in your resume. Ivies and top notch universities tend to like unique things like dancing so that’s a plus. Your GPA and ACT are also very good. I think you have a very good chance at all of the schools you listed. Just write some good essays!

Can you return the favor and chance me too?

Yes, you have a shot at all those schools. However, as you should already know, HYPS are reaches for virtually all applicants. The only people who truly can “chance” you are the admission committees.

Chicago, on paper, is a bit less selective than HYPS, but they do reject some students admitted to those schools. In the past they have emphasized the application essays.

I’d be surprised if most of the other schools didn’t accept you.

In that income bracket, financial aid may be your biggest hurdle. That puts you in the upper middle income “donut hole” of people who do not qualify for too much aid, but who aren’t wealthy enough to easily afford $50K/year or more. In recent years, HYPS have made efforts to close that hole. Use the college Net Price Calculators and talk to your parents about whether they can cover your Expected Family Contribution. If they cannot, you may need to look for less expensive schools, or schools likely to offer you merit aid.

Thanks for the thoughts.

@tk21769: Yeah, we’ve kind of figure that out… We’re definitely in that donut hole. Since HYPS have great endowments, we could afford them a lot better than, say, Georgetown. In fact, they would be cheaper than state schools for me. There also the toughest ones to get into. I’ve been trying to get a grasp on some good schools I could get merit aid at on the other end of the spectrum in case schools like Georgetown (should I get accepted) come in too expensive.

Academically qualified. Harvard however, is a toss of the coin.

Yeah, I’ve kind of figured that. Thanks.

Well first I’d like to tell you that I spent a good ten minutes just looking at this post because of how jealous I am. But seriously, good for you!

I think your standings are great for all of the schools you listed. The Ivies, though, I’m not too sure about. Normally I would assume they accept a student if that student is talented, but based on having known some people who applied to Ivies, they’re not too consistent with the students they accept. I’ve seen some brilliant minds turned away from Princeton and Penn, for example.

Best of luck!

And can you chance me?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1366642-my-chances.html</a></p>

Thanks! I’ll chance you back when I get a little more time this evening. Thanks for the thoughts… It’s that piece about brilliant students getting rejected that worries me. That’s the piece that makes Ivy admissions so unpredictable…

Chances are good – in all reality, a chances thread was really unnecessary, as having a 4.0 UW GPA and 36 ACT, you should be well aware of the fact that your academic qualifications are at least sufficient.

Secondly, because this is a pet peeve of mine, your ‘gender’ is not ‘m’. By ‘M’ you mean ‘male’, which is the quality of having certain anatomical parts, in the case of either male or female – this is your sex. Your gender is something entirely different and has no causal or absolute relation to your anatomical parts.

I assume your gender is ‘man’; and your sex is ‘male’.

I realize that with the academic piece… Rather, the issue lies with the fact that so many of those “acadmeically qualified” applicants are still rejected. Thanks for the input though.

Can you tell you where you are going to school now?

Just curious…

Dude you are GREAT! You are strong in elsewhere. At least sure that you will not be anyway disappointed when you see the decisions. Great JOB. Could you chance me back! Please be sincere http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1615900-harvard-yale-princeton-and-duke-chances-thank-you-will-chance-you-too.html#latest</a></p>

Given that this thread is 2 years old, and the OP has not posted since March 2013, I don’t think you will get an answer @houseofcats

Well. Just curious where OP ended up going.
