Do you have any awards or notable achievements that would not give away your identity? If not, your scores are excellent and on par for the schools you listed, but your ECs leave something to be desired. Try to work on them and good luck with six APs in one year!

I guess I can add some more stuff to my ECs in my post to be more accurate

Bump, I will chance back fast

Damnn. If you worked on math a little and could superscore a 2400 that would be very impressive. I would say low reach for all but HYP + Caltech which are high reach for everyone.

“GPA : 3.98 (1 B in 8th Grade that was high school level and showed up on transcript)”
Did you really have to justify a 3.98??

You don’t have anything that’s unique about you, but you’re accomplished enough that you still have a very strong chance of getting in. If you want to, you could retake the SAT (I know people who have retaken higher scores) just bring it up to 2400 if you feel that’s possible. I’m not sure how schools would feel about it, but considering you only took the SAT once then you’re probably fine.

The only negative part of your application is that it is ALL academics, but you’ll probably be okay because you have quite a bit of leadership. It’s discouraging to not see any art, music, or foreign language there, and that could be a serious reason for rejection, especially considering there are SO many students who could be admitted on their academic record alone. I still think you’ll be fine and it probably will be a non-issue, but it definitely could end up being a problem.

If you really want to sell yourself, You should try to get some more national recognition for your accomplishments.

High-Reach: Harvard (esp if RD)
Mid-Reach: Yale Princeton Stanford MIT Caltech
Low-Reach: Duke Brown Cornell
Match: JHU

You should just play the numbers game at this point and apply to a lot of reaches, with some matches and safeties just in case. I’m confident that you’ll get into at least one of your reaches, and you have a great chance at HYPSM

Chance me back? I’m guessing you’re from Maryland? Same here! Good luck.

Thanks.

I didn’t add anything about my heavy involvement in tennis tournaments and violin playing b/c I didn’t think it would be necessary. I guess I shud ahahah.

I appreciate you guys chancing

anymore ppl?

bump10char

You are a good candidate for any of these schools because of your academic record. Work on differentiating yourself.

H, Y, P, S, M, Caltech: High Reach
Duke, Brown: Reach
Cornell, JHU: High Match

You have worked very hard. I think that there is a lot of randomness so very hard to predict which I think good to ask guidance if your hs has a particularly good result at any particular schools. You have . Great statistics. I Am curious if others think that not listing ecs which were low hours of input may be better than longer list. Good luck

Ps. Don’t get married to any school unless you are in. MAke sure to include a financial safety school if money is an issue I personally like bowdoin Swarthmore and Pomona very much as well.

Thanks for the advice!

I appreciate the list of financial safeties! I know I will definitely need to look at a few!

My ECs that aren’t that important include tennis tournaments (I have a great passion for it), and a couple of violin things here or there.

I have chanced you and will say again that all are match except for HYP+Caltech+Stanford.

I think that if you were able to raise your math score and get a research position you’d be a match for MIT too.

Good luck!

Haven’t seen this much terrible advice in a chance thread since…the last one I looked at.

Look OP, you have some great stats, you’re set academically.

Just keep doing well in your ECs, use months to draft and refine your essays with passion, but most importantly, making the essays represent you, and you will have a great shot.

Note: MIT will never be a match for anyone. No school under a 15% acceptance rate will be a match for anyone.

You have good chances at all of these schools. Your essays will play a huge role, start to get an idea of what you want to include in them.

Good luck.

Also, don’t listen to that silly person who suggests you retake your 2350 SAT. It is pointless at your score.

I would say you have a great chance at them all, but you need something that makes them NEED you, not just think you’re a good student (like minority, music, etc.). You obviously have the academics for all of these schools, and your application will be seriously reviewed at all of them.

Therefore:

Reach: Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, MIT, Caltech
Possibles: Duke Brown Cornell
Likely/Possible (depending on the program you apply to): JHU

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1439801-chance-me-please.html

I mentioned b s and p as additional excellent schools which might be overlooked due to small size and relatively less name recognition to public

Financial safety tends to be your in state University or perhaps a school with guaranteed scholarships like u of Alabama and a list of others.

MIT admission blog site has some great advice from admission officers. Relevant to the entire process. I will look for some links to my favorites.

By Ben Jones also stands out and reassures us that there are real people looking at the applications.
