I was a USPhO finalist
was a physics tutor for sophomores
a few in school awards, class preside
valedictorian from middle school(i wrote about it in my essay)</ec>

EA : Stanford
RD : harvard, yale, princeton, mit, U chicago, berkley, cornell, rice, michigan

will i get into any of the hypsm??

Alright, here we go.

GPA, SAT scores seem to be average, with good subject scores.

On the other hand, in your EC column…

You have very little volunteering or an activity that will require a significant amount of commitment or time. The only thing that might be noteworthy is the USPhO finalist thing. I really don’t see how being the valedictorian of your middle school means anything unless it connects to your present situation in a significant, meaningful way.

For your question, my answer would be: possibly/probably not. However, I don’t want to discourage you from applying to any of the schools you may like to attend.

I would agree with Gryffon- EC’s are lagging. MIT would probably reject you- (why must they be so selective?) but I would still recommend that you apply. :P

You have a great shot at Michigan. Just remember to apply early because of rolling admissions.

You spelled “berkley” wrong.

Might be tough, not having a hook. Your scores are high enough for Cornell though. I don’t know about the others.

Well, good luck.

I was a USPhO finalist

That’s a pretty good hook roflmao…

I’d say you’re in for at least 2 of hypsm.

No I don’t think you will get into HYPSM with average SAT I’s and a 3.8, even if you did well in physics olympiad.

i thought 2250 SAT was quite good considering the fact that my first language is korean. and i forgot to mention that i go to very rigorous school. sends about 20 to top schools every year.

Yah, your SAT1 score is very decent, and so are your subject test scores.
However, HYPSM already have so many applicants who apply with really really good standarized test scores and almost perfect GPA.
Especially the asian students who apply to HYPSM have really high test scores and GPA, I heard…
Therefore, they’ll look more for your personality than for your good test scores.
ECs,essays, and recommendation letters are the only ways that Adcom can visualize your characteristics.
no volunteering work would surely demage your change of getting in :frowning:
Also no club involvements and community service participation would give Adcoms a sense that you’re not well-rounded person…

Though,if you write stunning essays that would blow the Adcom and get the amazing recs. you may have a fair chance…

Good Luck to You..
