Hey everyone! So I really looking to improve my SAT scores, and I'm wondering what is the most effective way to do so.

My current goal is between 2050 - 2150, and my original scores where a 650, 650, and a 550 without any prep. (I know it's ambitious)

My grades are much better then my SAT scores and I'm really hoping to bring them up before the May testing date.

My plan is to do a practice test every weekend and study another 4 hours a week, but I'm not really sure what to do specifically..(any ideas?)

Do you think that I will be able to bring my scores up in time/successfully?
Also what specific strategies have worked for people in the past?

Thanks

I think that is goal is feasible. I was able to increase SAT score a couple hundred points by prepping over the summer. Summer time is about ~3 months and that’s just a little over what you have left. Instead of taking prep courses and paying for a tutor, I scoured CC for recommendations and purchased the books. There are a lot of threads about this, but you may have to do some digging to find them. I think that if you spend some time looking through old threads on CC and establish & maintain a study schedule getting a score in the 2050 - 2150 range is possible.

I watched videos on prepfactory.com (it’s free) over and over again until the SAT prep info became burned into my brain. I used an app for vocab as well… I think it was Quizlet.

I’ve been where you’re at. My very first SAT I ever took was 1770. With about a month and a half of preparation, although I do not know my exact score, I can say with confidence that I got over 2000 on this past SAT. Get Direct Hits 1 and 2 for vocabulary. Make flashcards to help remember them. Every weekend and weekdays if possible, do the collegeboard blue book practice tests. The second edition one you can go online to get answer explanations, so find out what you missed and why. Watch academichacker’s how to write a 12 essay in 10 days videos on youtube. Read CC guides, other SAT blogs, don’t be afraid to test advice and see if it works out for you. Best of luck!

I used this book called Hot Words something. It helped a lot and in the back, it even had a list of words that appear often in the sat!
