Thank you!

Race has nothing to do with it because they have more whites than anything. but they are very selective. your gpa &sat scores are kind of low for that school but everything else looks fine.

What do you mean by this?

What is your WGPA out of? 5.0?
Yes, your scores are low, and your GPA seems a little low too, but since I sent my SAT scores, I am not sure of what an applicant who doesn’t send their SAT scores does. Did you have to do anything extra instead of sending your SAT scores?

Being a first generation student is a plus, but being in-state may hurt you, as they do not want to have too many NC students.

Your ECs are really good, but why did you participate in them for only 2 years mostly?

Sorry for the lengthy response, but I think your chances are decent, and I really hope you are accepted. Do you know what you want to major in yet? Just curious!

Hey, the big factor at Wake Forest is GPA, class rank, and rigor of courses selected, along with the school index. Certainly, the GPA and the class rank will reflect how well the student did in those rigorous classes. They’ll match what the student took in the way of APs and Honors courses to what is offered at the school, and from that determine where the student fits in terms of choosing rigor. Many schools are moving TO the rigor index and away from a really heavy push for a top standardized test score; the test scores are still important but aren’t the largest factor for admissions.

I don’t understand what a 5.0 scale is for high school. I am going to a public high school in North Carolina that works off of the 4.0 scale, and we can take Honors or AP classes, awarding 5 points for an A in an Honors class and 6 points for an A in an AP class. Can you please explain what a 4.0 on the 5.0 scale translates to in terms of number of As, Bs and Cs?

Also, I am trying to remember that Wake’s middle 50% SAT score range is 1240-1420, at least I think I have that right. A score of 1250 on the Math and CR (the Writing portion isn’t used in the final analysis) puts you within the range of what they admit to Wake Forest, certainly on the lower end of that scale but indeed within the range; most will agree that getting into the range makes you a competitive applicant to the school and I am assuming you sent the SAT scores. ?

That’s my $.02, and you know what that’s worth…
