Thats pretty much what there is to my school life. I really do appreciate any help all of you all can give. Thank you once again.

I am not an expert at all, but in my opinion, you have a very good chance of getting in: you have very good SAT results, good grades in school (it seems so, since you don't have GPA) and excellent ECs for an international. Just don't tell colleges you plan to join the army when you apply, because I think this will be in your disadvantage; you will be able to tell them when you are admitted and then it will be OK.

i didn't really plan to join the army. its mandatory in singapore to spend 2 years in the army. most of the top schools know of this requirement so i hope it wont be a problem. any ideas on how to phrase it? i'm actually using my service as work exp cos i work on a HR business project instead of being in combat.

joe36--Your army service is not a problem at all. The admissions office will know about Singapore's requirement. There were several US citizens when I was at Yale who started college after experience in the military.

It is tougher for internationals to get in than US citizens. It is difficult to assess your ECs because I doubt many (any?) of us know enough about what is available and what is a normal level of accomplishment for strong students in Singapore. Same for the academics. The admissions officers will have a much better understanding of the context of your accomplishments than people on this board will.

When you say you're not worrying about safety schools yet, is that because you are applying to elite schools this year and, if you're not accepted anywhere, you'll apply to safety schools during the second year of your military service?

how much aid are you asking for (I apologize if you said already), but i'm not reading all that until I know how much aid. It's a HUGE factor.

1MX: Yale has need blind admissions for International students. One of the very, very few colleges that offers this, BTW. Gotta love Dave Swensen's (Yale's Chief Development officer) wizardry with the Yale endowment!!!

wow, I didn't realize that. That's crazy.
joe-you obviously are competitive, but leave it up to the mysteries of admission.

thanks for all the advice guys. i'll probably be applying for aid but at best i think it would be minimal, and also a bond-free merit scholarship in singapore which would providea full-ride. better get started on my essays. was thinking of writing about my scouts for common app, and my expedition for my youth achievement award for the yale additional essay, any comments? will consider safeties for future applications if things dont go well. hope i dont need to though.
