Hey guys I'm currently a Junior in High School looking to study International relations with the goal of eventually becoming a Foreign Service Officer. To this end I'm currently planning on applying to Georgetown SFS(top choice), John's Hopkins, Columbia(high reach I'm sure, but whatever), George Washington University, and American University. I'd really appreciate it if you could chance me for these schools or recommend some good international relations summer programs or internships for high school students.
Stats:
GPA: 3.7 UW, weighted unknown
rank: top 10% at pretty competitive public high school
Sats: 740 CR, 650 Math, 690 Writing (underperformed relative to psats and retaking in may with hopes for 2250+)
SatIIs: 800 US History, planning on taking World History and Lit in june
Courseload: most rigorous my school offers with all honors and ap courses. All History, English, and foreign language aps my school offers taken or plan to take.
APs: 5 on AP us history. AP World history, Ap US gov, AP comp all pending. Ap spanish, ap lit, and ap human geo next year
Ecs:
Amnesty International Student Activist Coordinator, basically my job is to serve as a liason between high school chapters in my region and the national organization as well as helping them out and planning large scale regional events
Captain of school debate team and most decorated interstate competition debater in my school's history
Intern for Elizabeth Warren Campaign (150 hours)
Fellow for Ed Markey campaign
President of School Amnesty Chapter
Assistant editor of school newspaper
Student council representative

Awards:
US Senate Youth Program 1st alternate for Massachusetts 2013, I lost to two seniors and have an excellent chance of being a delegate next year as almost all the other finalists were seniors.
James Otis Scholar for 2011
Numerous Debate awards in statewide competitions

Recommendations will be stellar: from a harvard grad and Human rights activist who thinks the world of me, a field coordinator for the warren and markey campaigns who thinks I'm the best Intern/fellow ever, and a teacher who considers me the most knowledgeable history student she's ever met

haha you should be fine. I’m no admissions officer; I’m a senior who has applied to GWU. I’ve looked at a lot of colleges and you probably know already that you’re in their target range.

Thanks for the reply! I sure wish I was that confident haha, I’m already freaking out about the whole process of admissions and its not even fall yet. Have you gotten a reply from GW?

Anyone else? I’d really appreciate some chances so I can stop stressing out and know whether or not my chances at my top schools are realistic or not.

Easily into GW. Pretty well suited for Georgetown as long as your SAT score is higher on retake. Columbia and JH are probably reaches but I’d say still a good shot there. Good luck!

You look like a really good candidate for all the schools, especially if you raise your SAT, though admissions can be unpredictable at top schools (particularly Columbia on your list). That being said, you should be set at GWU at American.

I don’t know if you’ve looked into Tufts, but from what I know they have a great IR program as well, and you would probably have a favorable chance of being accepted.

If you raise your SAT and demonstrate good performance in Spanish (probably by getting a great score on the SAT II primarily), you’d be a good candidate for Penn Huntsman, which is a great program as well!

Thanks for all the advice guys! I know tufts has a great IR program but I’m eager to get out of New England for college, I want a change of pace. How high should my sat scores be to solidify my chances at Georgtown and Hopkins?
