SAT II-haven't taken any yet, but will probably take Spanish, French, Math IIC, and World History

OH, can you take two language SAT II's? Will schools count them as two tests or do they want 3 different catagories?

100+ Hours of Community Service
Varsity Basketball (Captain senior year)
Founder/President of European-American Club at School
NHS
CSF-(Cali version of NHS)
Chess Club
Civil Air Patrol-Well I'm not gonna lie, I'm technically a member, but I haven't gone to meeting in a long time. I was interested in going to the Air Force Academy, but changed my mind after joining CAP. I have the card, should I even list this on my application?

I want to major in International Relations or Affairs.

My top schools are...
American University of Paris
Johns Hopkins
Georgetown
Tufts
George Washington
American
UCLA(in state)
UC Davis
UC Irvine

BTW, I'm a white male.

A large part of my decision would be which schools would give me the most financial aid. My family income is $100,000+, but my parents don't seem to be overly generous about supporting me for college. They said $25,000 max. So, basically even if I get into any of those private schools, I would need some money from them. TY.

Why aren't you applying to La Sorbonne?

Johns Hopkins--slight reach
Georgetown--slight reach
Tufts--match
George Washington--match
American--match

You will likely get merit money from your matches.

Drew00 I'm not applying to the La Sorbonne because I don't speak French fluently. The American University of Paris teaches in English. Does La Sorbonne teach in English? I would be very interested if it did.

Thanks for the info Bill. How much merit money do you think I could get?

A 2120 may not be high enough, esp. when SAT Prep is listed on your transcript. Get the CR & W up to 700 and you will have done essentially all you can do. Good luck!

Dude that class was the biggest joke ever. It is listed as College/SAT/Career Prep. What did we do? Took one SAT I practice test, watched college videos, and watched career videos. Gave me some time to do some thinking about college though. I'm confident I will score higher after taking AP English Language with an excellent teacher.

Akajjred, I am not personally attacking you. The bottom line is they have up front knowledge that you have had SAT Prep, which is more than they have for just about anyone else. Feel free to ignore my previous comment, but at the same time please get your scores up.

Gotcha, TY.

bump bump bump

hmm...again, get sat scores up...write good essays, the usual...and Billhpike's chances were lenient with G-Town, Johns Hopkins, and Tufts...George Washington isn't quite a match either, but it's closer. But def. get sat scores up. Good luck :)

Akajjred:

UCLA: Safe Match
UCSD: Safety
UCI: Safety

Honestly, I don't think that their knowledge you took an SAT Prep course will kill your chances, because realistically, most people who get a score above 2100 (and many of those who don't, too) did take SAT Prep. If a college actually were to single him out just because they know he took the class, then they're being naive in their admissions.

I'm wondering if you might be interested in some bigger name colleges? I know Princeton a strong program with the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International affairs. Though, you need to be a junior or senior to get in there. If you were to improve your SATs, do a good essay and interview, and keep your EC's strong, you would have a chance there (though nothing is garuanteed with those schools). I'm not sure if other places have great oppurtunities...Georgetown definitely does though.

Confused Student-I have good ECs? I was always under the impression that my ECs were my short-coming?

Question would taking two different SAT II Language Tests look really good (esp. considering my intended major)? I know I could take Spanish right now. I'd have to review a little, but I feel pretty confident. I'm currently learning French (on my own), and hope to have it better than my Spanish by the end of summer. Also, do most of these schools allow to mix sections from your SAT I from different test dates. I'm very good in math, but I'm not gonna lie that 800 was a fluke. I can easily get a 700+, but it just happened on that test (Jan 2006) that I knew every math problem. I know I can improve CR and W, but I'm also pretty sure that the math is gonna drop. So will most schools let me add up the different sections or will they take my test from one date?

Bump, C'mon I know you wanna answer

Bump again.

G-Town, Hopkins and Tufts are all matches and the other two are safety/matches, the 3 matches don't really offer merit aid at all though.
