I’m currently an upper middle class asian junior male attention a small magnet math and science school. I currently have a 4.0 UW GPA and I believe a 4.2 W in high school. My weighted is only so low b/c my school only offers a very small amount (~4) APs, of which I have taken 1 and plan to take 1 or 2 more next year. However I am taking in a part of my school’s program of dual enrollment at a nearby university and I am taking courses there, with a 4.0 university GPA. I also take many STEM related electives at school as I plan to apply as an engineering major.
STEM Elective courses I have already taken:
• Engineering Design
• Digital Electronics
• Principles of Engineering
• Medical Terminology
• Biotechnology
University Courses I have already taken:
• Introduction to Chemistry CHE - 108
• General Chemistry - CHE 110
• Principles of Biology I - Lecture - BIO 120
• Principles of Biology I - Lab - BIO 121
• Elementary Statistics & Probability - MAT 131
• Principles of Biology II - Lecture - BIO 122
• Principles of Biology II - Lab - BIO 123
Of couse I plan to take more STEM courses next year. However I have taken pretty much as many classes as my schools offers. Thats the downside of a small school magnet school.
I am also very involved in extracurriculars. I am vice president of our NHS club, have 3 years expreience on my schools First Robotics Competition team (hopefully co-chair of team next year), and have 2 years experence serving on our local Youth Council that works for the city (currently secretary, hopefully chair and at the very least vice chair next year). I also used to be on a club swim team for 2 years until that become too big of a commitment. On the mathematics side, I have taken place in the AMCs all 3 years of high shcool so far (AMC 10: 132; AMC 12: 94.5), attended the invitation only AIME, and made the local ARML team last year.
As for standardized scores, I got a 221 on the PSAT, 2150 SAT november and 2250 SAT march. I plan to retake the SAT again in june for hopefully a 2300.
This summer I applied to some research based engineering internships and I am still waiting to hear back from them.
Thank you so much for just read alllll of this! I plan to apply to the Ivies, the UCs (UCLA & Berk are my tops), and other prestegious schools like Stanford & MIT as an engineering major and economics minor. I know its not too impressive for that level, but its all I got. So… what do you think are my chances so far?
