Chances for Ivies?

I'm a junior and I'm interested to know if I'm on the right track for getting into any Ivy League schools, specifically UPenn.

White Male

Less than $40,000 annual parental income
Fairly competitive Catholic high school

4.0 Unweighted GPA
Sophomore year: AP European History (3)

Rank from end of sophomore year: 4/419 and probably improving

I will be taking the SAT in January. I'm expecting somewhere in the 2000 range, but who knows.

3 years involved in school plays, with some minor roles such as Mr. Pinky in Hairspray, and Old Joe/Headless Ghost in A Christmas Carol.
Will have around 50 hours of community service completed by the end of senior year.
National Honor Society for two years.
Spanish Honor Society for one year.
Will be starting a Harry Potter club in the coming weeks.
Sr. Alice Hess, IHM's Varsity Mathletes for two years.
Yearbook for 2 years.

Will have fairly good recommendations from my teachers.

Be honest and tell me anything that you know. Please and thank you

Your grades, rank, and projected classes are all good, but your ECs and projected SATs are falling a bit short. Can you get involved behind the scenes in school theater and maybe get a leadership role doing that, if you’re interested in it? Do you have a leadership role on the yearbook? You’re going to need to make that part of your application much better for Harvard/Yale/Princeton/Columbia, I think, but that improvement is doable. You’re also going to want to get at least a 2200 on the SAT. I don’t know much about UPenn, but these would seem minimum requirements for most Ivies. What are you planning to major in?

Good news: you’re a junior, you’ve got some time, it’s easier to pull up ECs and SATs than a GPA, and you’re not completely out of range as is! Good luck!

Thanks for the honest post!

Buuuuump

Pull up your SAT and get more involved with your EC’s.

Great stuff but gonna want a higher SAT for HYP

Thanks for the replies.

Bumping for more specific information.
