Sorry for the long post! I'm kind of a newbie here! I feel that I am academically sound, but what about my extracurricular work? I didn't save the polar bears or prevent nuclear war or something like that, but a slew of people have incredible achievements that will be applying to. Also my GPA is still in the making but I did terrible during my freshmen year! What chance do I have at places like UC Berkley, Duke, Stanford, MIT, Harvard, Yale, Brown, etc?

Thank you all for your time!

How is your SAT a 2389 (your Reading score can’t be a 794, and also 800+794+800 doesn’t equal 2389 anyway)?
Your GPA is on the low side, but it also depends on the context of your school. Your extracurriculars are good but a little spread; it’s hard to tell what you’re really passionate about. Those schools are probably all reaches.

You’re set dude haha…
Your GPA is on the low side like what clarinetkid has said, but your strong SAT and ACT will possibly make up for that. If your school is extremely competitive, then your gpa shouldn’t be a problem. Again, all in the context of your school. Your EC’s a numerous, but yes, spread. They are strong though with summer programs and leadership places. You have a nice chance for Berkeley. ;)

Thank for the replies! @Clarinetkid Thanks for spotting the error, faulty addition on my part!

Totally a ■■■■■. There’s no way you “added up” your CR score wrong because you don’t even add that up. They just tell it to you straight. Also, no way you got into RSI with a 3.7 weighted. And what kind of a USAMO qualifier makes a mistake in adding three-digit numbers? How can someone get 800s in CR and Writing, but not know how to spell “freshman” or “too” correctly? The only VA kids who got into RSI this year were from TJHSST. It’s fair to assume you are not anywhere near the top of TJ in class rank with a 3.7 weighted, considering how competitive the school is. If you were actually at RSI right now, you’d be doing your research or, not wasting your time posting chance threads on an Internet forum.

Please don’t misrepresent information on CC. It’s a forum to help out other students and lying definitely doesn’t promote that.

@sirswish7‌ I felt the need to revive this post to tell you to not be so rude. Also in addition, as a tj grad, I can tell you that tj, or the entirely of FCPS for that matter, doesn’t provide or calculate class rank (there is no such thing), so don’t say anything if you don’t know what you’re talking about. Where did you even find that only TJ kids got in this year? I can’t find anything about this online. In addition, OP attends a boarding school not TJ, so bringing up TJ is totally uncalled for.

@guineagirl96 Thanks for the comment!
