CHANCES FOR IVY LEAGUE? (Please Read!)

Hello. A midst all the chaos that is college applications, I have decided to get some insight from you lovely people.
I'm not quite sure about my major (the entire process of making such a permanent decision based on such temporary feelings deserves a rant of its own) but my parents are making it absolutely mandatory that I attend an Ivy League. That being said, I'd like an evaluation of my chances at getting accepted into the schools of UChicago, Harvard, Northwestern, Columbia, Georgetown, Stanford (and the likes).

So,guys.Where do I stand?

You’re a solid applicant but you stand where everyone else who applies to these schools does:

Harvard - Reach
Stanford - Reach
Columbia - Reach
Northwestern - Reach
Georgetown - (slightly lower) Reach

You really do need to get some safeties into that list. Also, try talking to your parents about how Ivies aren’t the only schools that offer good education. Depending on your interests, there are several schools (both public and private) in the US that offer education at par.

Congratulations on your success! Those are some very impressive stats and you are a very competitive applicant to all of the schools you mentioned.

You must understand, however, that any school with an admission rate under 10% is a gamble for every applicant. Each of these schools turn down many applicants with equally impressive stats.

That being said, I would venture to guess that if you applied to UChicago, Georgetown, Stanford, and the 8 Ivies, you can reasonably hope to get accepted by 2 or 3 of those schools. Which particular schools you just can’t know.

Bottom line is that you should be hopeful but you need to pick some safety schools in case these don’t work out for you.

For top schools, you GPA is a little bit low while your ACT is slightly above average. Your EC seems good. Your chance should been slightly acceptance rate of each school.
