Hey guys,
I know this is too little information to go off of, but with a 1580 SAT score and a 96.5 gpa, are top schools attainable/even worth applying to?
All responses are greatly appreciated-thanks!

Is this a joke or something? Clearly you are competitive with your SAT score and your GPA should be fine too. I feel like you already know that you need to give way more information than that in order to get better feedback.
It’s not a joke, lol. I’m working on a more detailed post for the future but I just wanted to get a baseline here out of curiosity. @ams355
Your stats make you competitive for any school. Do you have SAT subject tests? Is your GPA weighted or unweighted?
This is my weighted gpa- unweighted is 94/95. I do have two SAT subject tests- on the low end, but didn’t have time to retake- 730 math II and 660 Chemistry (10th grade) @doorrealthe
You should retake Chemistry or take a different subject test. You want at least a 700 or higher.
Thanks, I’ll look into that. I’m currently taking AP Chemistry so I can possibly try and retake soon. Do you think it would be a huge impediment if I am unable to do so for some reason? @doorrealthe
It would not get you rejected instantly, but it would put you at a disadvantage. I had a 2300, decent GPA, 800 math 2, and a 670 on literature and I only got into Dartmouth. Some schools I did not have to send the 670 to but it is noticeable when you don’t submit two
Ahh, okay. It seems as if I should consider retaking in october, Thanks so much for the advice! @doorrealthe
