Anyway, please give any helpful feedback/criticism, and tell me if you or anyone you know have had similar stats and been accepted/rejected from the above colleges. Thanks so much!

Okay your grades are perfect, that’s obvious. You’re clear for that. If I had to give advice it would be to find something that sticks out about you. What will they remember you by? You have many extra curricular’s with great achievements, but what is it that you love? Is it politics, sports, math? I would highlight one thing you are passionate about and take it all the way because that is what will make you stand out. There are thousands upon thousands of applicants so make sure they remember you!
Other than that, I think it’s obvious that you are a strong candidate for all the schools you listed.
please chance me back! <a href=“CHANCE ME FOR PRINCETON!! - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1614346-chance-me-for-princeton-p1.html

Amazing grades. The only thing I think that could hurt you is a lack of leadership ( Team Captain, Club President, etc.) Also, what race are you?
Columbia University- match
University of Chicago- high match
Brown University- match
UC Berkeley- low match
Princeton- low reach
Amherst- match
UC Davis- safety
Harvard- low reach
Stanford- high match
Cornell- match
Dartmouth- match
HYP is obviously a guessing game, but I think you stand a great chance at any school. Plus, if you go to Cornell, we could be buddies (it is my dream school)
Chance back

^^I’m so glad there are still individuals out there like you who believe getting into a school like Stanford (the hardest school to get into) is a high match for this OP…Stanford thanks you for being their best recruiter! Thanks for helping them get thousands more to apply next year and driving down their acceptance rate even lower!

i have to agree. your stats are impressive but your ECs aren’t and that list is in no way near accurate. Columbia has a 7.4% acceptance rate it is not a match unless you cure cancer. the fact that that poster put Berkeley at a low match and Columbia as a match shows how unrealistic it is. I would say reach for Columbia, UofC,Princeton, Harvard, Stanford, and Darthmouth, low reach for Cornell, Brown and Amherst, high match/match for Berkeley safety for UCD. Not trying to say your chances are bad, just that it’s not enough to guarantee you anything

All the Ivies are certainly reaches. Stanford and UChicago are low reaches. You’re a match for Amherst and UCB, and UCD is a safety. Definitely try to make one of your ECs stand out.

@Ibad96 How is Stanford a low reach and schools like Cornell a reach.
Your academic stats are great but you need an EC that stands out like above posters have said.

@ncursio6 if you think for anyone ivies are a match, you’re gravely mistaken. Even with a 4.0 and a 2300+, your chances are no better than the 5-15% chance you have.

The Ivies, Stanford and Chicago (maybe Amherst too) certainly aren’t matches. You definitely have a much better shot than the typical applicant and will likely get into a few of the super selective schools, but don’t fool yourself into thinking you’re safe.

Thanks so much guys! I am honestly not sure how to make my EC’s stand out. I thought USABO semi’s and AIME would help, but I guess I still have work to do! @Dilan412 and @kei04086 any advice about the EC’s?

One more thing…how much do you guys think an internship and at a medical facility would help? And how much of an impact would USAMO have on my app?

USAMO will have a mid range positive (like not the highest but not dull or boring either) impact. An internship will go a long ways with you application. However, would the facility be family run because that can sometimes take away from it.

You obviously have an amazing GPA but I feel like with Ivy league schools that isn’t enough. They have tons of people applying with amazing scores so they want people who are different. I really think that the internship at a medical facility is a great idea especially if you’re considering going into that field. I think showing what you’re interested in by your EC’s is really helpful.

University of Pennsylvania*: Reach
Columbia University: Reach
University of Chicago: Reach
Brown University: Low Reach
UC Berkeley: Match
Princeton: Reach
Amherst: Low Reach
UC Davis: Safety
Harvard: Reach
Stanford: Reach
Cornell: Low Reach
Dartmouth: Reach

A lot of the are reaches but I think that you should get into at least one Ivy. Really work on more impressive EC’s in the time you have left!

USAMO is very impressive however, typically instead of being spread out, you have to show passion and interest into you ECs. Your application is very impressive and already gives you better chances than an application but you have to realize that these top tier institutions have rejected 2400 4.0s plenty of times. You have create an image of yourself that stands out and something the admission officers hang on to after reading you application.

Thanks again guys! @Dilan412 I am planning on focusing in on math and science using my AIME and probably USAMO, and Science Bowl and SciOly where I have a lot of achievements in. Honestly, if I focus on those two fields I feel like I will be a lot better off. Once again, I appreciate the input!

Great stats! But I would say really focus on your essays to stand out.

I’m a junior just like you so don’t take my chances too seriously.

Colleges aren’t looking for crazy awards sporadically. They’re looking for an area of interest that you actively pursued outside of school. (i.e. music, math, robotics, etc)

@Dagiehead you’ve got a great chance man! Wonderful test scores, perfect GPA too. Black Belt is also nothing to scoff at. I feel like you’ll almost certainly get an Ivy/Ivy Plus acceptance :)
