<p>I posted this before but then read the thread on how to make this better so i remade it. The schools im wondering about are James Madison U and Virginia Tech. I was looking to find out if my academics, which are a little above average for those schools, would overcome my lack of ECs or if I need to apply to some more safeties... thanks for reading and helping out.</p>
<p>OVERVIEW--- I'm a senior, life-long resident of Virginia, neither parent went to college, white, male, will apply for financial aid</p>
<p>ACADEMICS--- Rank: 43/ 372
-GPA(high school's 4.5 scale, dont know other ones):3.80
-SAT: 1300 or 1860 Math: 640 Crit.Reading: 660 Writing: 560,
-Dual Enrollment Courses: DE Calculus, DE Criminal Justice I & II, DE English Comp
-Difficult Senior Courses, 3 of my 4 DE classes are this year
-I took 4 years of German
-I took honors/ advanced courses in all core classes execept for the history/govt trail</p>
<p>ECs--- This is my weak spot. All i have is Learn and Serve, this year only, which is a community service-esque class/ club. You develop your own projects to fulfill a need in the community-- 70 hrs of service.</p>
<p>OTHER--- I got a Letter of Rec. from my Govt teacher
-VT Essay is on how my Govt teacher influenced my view on life/ education
-Currently in process of writing JMU essay on my personal traits, honesty, dedication, etc.</p>
