So....what do you think? do i have a chance?

If you get a few more awards and maybe double you number of AP classes then you’ll have a slight chance at UPitt

MIGHT get into UPitt??? they have a 56% acceptance rate and their average SAT scores are in the high 500’s for CR and Math. How is that not a safety school for me?

Chill Bro, you have a REALLY good chance at UPitt, just double the number of Awards and APs like I said.

anyone else want to comment?

I would really like to know if i need more volunteer or EC’s or Ap’s or awards…please comment your suggestions and i’mm comment on yours!

There’s no such thing as “needing” more ECs; as I’m sure you’ve heard before, passion demonstrated generally trumps quantity of ECs. That said, yours are a little average. Are you on varsity for track or volleyball? And do you hold any kind of leadership position in Art Club? Either/both of those two qualifications would help.
Your volunteering seems solid. How many hours do you have?
We can’t tell you how many more APs you should take. That depends on you and your schedule. Furthermore, the number of APs offered at a school is usually different than the number of APs offered at another; as long as it’s clear you’ve taken a rigorous courseload you should be fine.

Can’t really see you getting into more than 1 or 2 of these schools.

do all of my writing awards help? i’ve won some more since i’ve posted this that i need to add. Also, if i say i’m tryin to get a book published? i’m working on getting an agent…is that a hook? I really just want to get into JHU, i don’t care about the ivies

also, do SAT prep courses help?

bump bumpity bumpu bump

Hard to chance you without your SAT scores, but I actually believe you have a very impressive portfolio and have demonstrated passion in the English language.
John Hopkins- high match; as long as you get 2150+ on your SATs. Match if you get 2200+ and/or more leadership positions.
Brown-reach/low reach; continue to work on showing passion in writing by getting your novel published. If it wins some awards, it might be the deciding factor in your admissions.
Columbia-reach: just as I said before, work on getting your novel published and strengthen your schedule rigor if possible. Try taking Calculus, even if it’s not AP, it’ll show you can do math and write well.
Carnegie Melon-high match
Middlebury-match
University of Pittsburg (safety)-truly a safety for you.

Your AP’s are fine. I know they say even 4 or 5 is good or excellent. And as for U of Pitt, you are good, especially with your SAT score, which are similar to mine. To get a more accurate and less biased idea, try collegeboard’s “how do i stack up” app? Here’s the link. Just put in your info and see how to compare to any colleges you want to get into!

[Academic Tracker - Meet College Admission Requirements - High School Class Selection](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)

It’s a great, and effective site, trust me on that, and collegeboard is very dependable, but it’s not obviously 100 percent accurate, considering the essays to have to write. But getting our sat’s up is something you HAVE to do for those ivies.

thank’s for all of your input. I’m checking out that college board thing right now, and i’ve ordered the pr SAT prep book to prepare for my SAT’s!

bump

Also, what constitutes a good “hook”, not just a hobby?

Would i have a chance at William and Mary?? i know they only have a creative writing options for seniors, but they have a very good english program, don’t they?
